I play hide the ring which alleviates the problem for a week or so....right after dinner and before i do dishes I'll put my ring away and wear my old promise ring to bed. When I get up and put my e-ring back on it's the biggest thing on earth.
:lol-2: Love this!

:lol-2:Married almost 4 years, same husband, and on my 4th ring:

Ring 1: 0.9ct Ceylon sapphire
Ring 2: 1.72 K VS1 OEC
Ring 3: 1.44 I VS2 MRB
Ring 4: 1.84 I VS2 MRB

I have other diamond rings but I don't include them in my count as I don't wear them as engagement rings. I can see myself upgrading my current ring slightly in size and clarity.

Rings are smaller where I live. Mine is just under 0.5 carats, H, SI1. 0.5 carats is about as large as I've seen on anyone; most are less. 1 carat rings are generally only seen on much older (>70) and very wealthy women, and then are typically worn in a large stack of hefty yellow gold rings/right hand rings in what is generally thought by others to be an ostentatious show of wealth. Usually in a combo with furs. (I wish I was kidding, but sadly, I am not...because I have often thought that a 1 carat ring would be quite lovely).

My original engagement ring was a 1.52ct J-VVS1 modified rectangular brilliant. I upgraded to a 1.62ct, and lost my diamond. When we finally replaced it, I went with a relatively small (in my family) but very well cut diamond, and set it in a halo which gives it some serious presence. I have other rings, but what I call my "baby diamond" is the most practical on the day-to-day for me.

Ring 1: 2.28 L VS2 OEC
Ring 2: 1.59 K SI1 Antique pear
Ring 3: 2 ctw (est) OEC cluster ring (on consignment, but having second thoughts LOL!)

Ring 1 - 0.22 carat diamond platinum solitaire D colour, SI2
Ring 2 - 1.5-1.7 carat (depending on which appraisal) sapphire with approx 1 carat diamonds, platinum (antique, Edwardian).
I am happy with this one, I should think it will be my forever ring.

(Came back after a long absence because of an email/newsletter) :D

Keep it soxfan! I am dying for that ring!

1st ring - Recut MRB 0.7ct H VS1 in a lovely vintage Art Deco setting (the ring was stolen just a few months after we married)
2nd ring - H&A Cushion 1.5ct J SI2 in a WG solitaire setting
3rd ring - MRB 2.1ct I SI2 with just under 0.5ct side stones in plat setting

For the ones who are open to upgrades, there is always “room for improvement”/“room for upgrades”. I loved my first ring just as much as the ring I have today ;)

Got my ring in early 20s, when we were both still students.

0.5 carat F VS1 ideal cut (AGS cert) bought online & set locally in Australia.

I did notice that - 5 to 10 yrs later- the "normal size" here has increased to closer to 1 carat

First ER... RB, 2.21 center stone, D, SI2 with another 1.8 cts in melee
Second ER (same guy)...OEC 3.39 ct, K, SI1, solitaire

Still have the original ring and diamond, sentimental attachment.
