Family friend has a relative who is a jeweler and will give me a good deal or so he says.

Here's the diamond I'm looking at:
depth 61.6
table 56
crown 35.0
pavilion 40.9
star length 55%
Lower half length 80%
crown height 15.5%
pavilion depth 43.2%
.99 carat G VVS2
6.4x6.42x3.97

GIA certificate.
price for me $4000 cash

HCA score is :
Light Return - Excellent
Fire - Very Good
Scintillation - Very Good
Spread - Very Good
Total Visual Performance -1.9 - Excellent
within TIC range

When I saw the diamond I thought it had great fire and scintillation. And I thought the high crown helped to achieve this. Is it because the pavilion angle is too deep or something?

What are your thoughts on this diamond? I know VVS2 is overkill but this is what he had available in my budget. Also only .99 carat instead of that magical 1ct mark but he said they purposely cut the diamond for performance and not just size.

Can you get an idealscope image? Based on specs alone it seems ok, if not slightly steep/deep. But for 4k on a GIA G VVS... sounds good.

If you like it that's the most important thing. Make sure to look at it in multiple lighting sources, not just under sparkly jewelers lights.

Sound like an Ex price..do you have the GIA report #?
Be sure that the stone is not damaged.(i.e. chipped girdle)
