Hello,

So, I went to the jewelers to talk about making a pendant for my old cut diamond. When I was there I saw this sweet filigree ring and he said he could easily make it so it fits my stone. So, I changed my mind about the pendant and when with the filigree ring setting.

I got my ring today and I am not sure how I feel about it. I feel like the setting is too small for the stone and it looks kinda of out of balance... but maybe I am just picky?

Please give me your honest opinions.

I don't see the setting as too small for the stone at all. The question is, do you love the setting or not? If not, return it asap!

I think that the setting obscures the shape of the stone. Far from being too small, it is too big and too much - the stone gets lost in it. A smaller, simpler setting would showcase the diamond. But that is just my opinion. Yours is the one that counts!

I like the design concept, but the setting might be overwhelming the stone a bit. It's hard to tell w/ such close up photos though.

Can you take a few pics from further away where we could get a feel for what it looks like on your hand IRL?

I think the ring is pretty and and the center diamond looks proportional...but it is something I wouldn't like enough to own personally because the pointy diamond shape of the setting is for lack of a better phrase, such a "strong, dominating shape."

It's a matter of whether you like the ring enough to keep it.

Your stone is lost in that setting. I think that setting needs a colored stone so you can actually see it.

I agree with Sky... although I like the concept, it seems like the setting's edges are just too sharp, giving a harsh look and loses the pretty shape of your diamond. Your stone is beautiful, so I'd want a setting to showcase it more. Maybe if the setting kept it's "diamond" shape, but had the edges softened... making it curvier and more suited to the stone's shape?? I don't know, I'm just thinking out loud...

OP, would you consider doing the setting in yellow or rose gold??

I think the diamond is a little lost in the setting, kind of hard to see it, at least in these pics.

Pretty diamond and pretty ring, but I don't think they go together. They compete for attention. I like the idea of a colored stone for that setting and I'd have the center diamond reset into a pendant.

Msop I think that's a great idea!! I don't know if the OP is still around, but your idea of softening the edges and maybe going w/ something that's more like an oval shape (and is smaller overall) would look really pretty.

I hope she comes back to let us know what she's thinking :)) !

+1 Couldn't have said it better myself. I like the setting, but not for that stone.
