Hello,

I am looking to purchase an engagement ring and this is my first experience with buying diamonds. I've decided to go with a lab diamond as I can get better 4Cs with lab for a cheaper price.

I've noticed with lab diamonds that there is not as much detailed information from vendors about very high quality cuts, and most of them use IGI which is not recommended as highly as GIA and AGS. I've found a few diamonds which I am interested in. These four diamonds all meet the intersection between AGS ideal and GIA excellent using https://www.diamondscreener.com/cut-estimator/. The HCA tools also show between 1-2 for these diamonds. The ones from distinctivegem have idealscope and ASET images. The idealscope images on these seem to show some slight light leakage in the center - but I've also read that idealscope images are not taken across vendors in consistent fashion.

The third listing is from BE with GCAL certification, but not sure how to compare the images in that to the idealscope/ASET images from distinctivegems.

I was wondering what your thoughts are on these. Are they good quality and also good value? Also, are there other vendors online that have idealscope images for lab diamonds readily available? Thanks

Hi, @supercow, and welcome to PS. :wavey:

Ask the moderator to move this post over to the lab-grown diamonds forum (Rocky Talky is for mined diamond discussions)

Just hit the Report Concern link at the bottom of your post & a message box will open where you can ask that your post be moved to the other forum.

I asked for this to be moved to the MMD forum. Many people discourage working with BE which you can research here using the above search link and make your own decision. They all look pretty good to me though I think I’d be more comfortable knowing Jonathan had laid eyes on them and given the first two his approval for his reserve stock.

From betting the quality of the rough I find ADA Diamonds to be great. I’m not sure how much they vet for quality of cut. But maybe ask them.

They do. I've spoken to them about several stones and they're pretty picky. They do specialize in larger stones, and I don't think they necessarily do all the angles, etc but I was looking at pears and Lindsay gave me lots of feedback about a few they had.
