Kenny, just saw this now too, am so sorry for your loss--its simply not an easy thing especially when it's a close relationship. Hang in there, time will help ease the pain.

I just got back now from a visitation for a 23 yr old--I just can't imagine loosing (anyone!) a child in their prime of life....he was 14 mo's older than our son, what a shame, & so senseless, but we all know full well there is a time for everything, living and dying.

Its just hard to have it hit you smack in the face when it happens. My thoughts are with you.

My lifelong best friend (not my SO) has died of cancer.
It has totally knocked me off my feet.

Death is the worst!

We get used to living.
Taking living for granted seems automatic, stupid but automatic.
Though it's not rational, absurd even, somehow we unconsciously function as though living is just permanent.

I totally get why so many religions invent the myth, the ultimate comfort, eternal life.
If only ...
