Hi Gary,

I have heard of this happening here in Australia some years back - people copy a ring in a store, and switch it.
Likey to be the gangs from South America who plague our industry.

Also heard of a young guy who sued a jeweller for selling him a diamond ring with a CZ.
He discovered it after trying to sell an E ring from a failed engagement.
Turned out that another jeweller had been asked by the girl to take the real diamond out and swap it for a CZ - she then returned the ring to her Ex knowing it had a CZ in it (but not telling him of course).
It could have done irreprairable damage to the jewellers reputation.

When emotions between the romantically involved run negative they can get pretty hot, and it''s best not to be "in the way" if possible...not so easy sometimes for the unsuspecting jeweler, however!
