Ok Ladies and Gents...I need some MAJOR help from you experts...What I want to pull off is going to be NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE...BUT I figure IF ANYONE can pull it off..itll be YOU Pricescopers! I found my DREAM wedding set semi mount at an AMAZING price...but Id need a center stone (waiting to hear what size stone the semimount will fit for a center) but i would ASSUME prolly a 1ct. Now heres the thing... the price of the wedding set is $1,860.00 BUT i still need a center stone and my budget is around $4000. theres NO way I can pull that off huh? Not unless I did like a round white sapphire? i KNOW my BF wouldnt like that idea. His idea in his head is UNrealistic I think (from lurking here for a while) Ill give you the run down... He wants IDEALLY : a 3 stone diamond and sapphire ring, diamond center sapphire sides w/channel setting on the side or pave. center stone 1-1.5ct G/VS1-VS2 sapphires .50ct each and Budget around $4000 TOTAL...i think its IMPOSSABLE. And i am in LOVE with THIS wedding set

The closest I could find was THIS G SI2 from WF. Looks eye-clean but it's .72 cts... and it's only ~$50 over your budget with the 2% PS discount (I think it's 2% for ES stones).

It's a luvly set

best of luck with everything!!

ETA: Is your budget for the center stone $4000-$1860 (for the setting) = $2140? Or is it $4000 for the center stone?

$4000 for the setting AND the stone...which is why hes being UNREASONABLE lol. it CAN be done with a 1ct color/clarity and still LOOK no diff then the color/clarity HE wwants lol. I even suggested looking at pawn shops for a NICE stone and resetting it...he wouldnt hear of it. hes being a PAIN lol

The stone Lorelei posted does look like a good one! I found a couple more on WF. Both are WF Expert Selection stones.

This one would be pretty close to the budget with the PS discount and is and I color:

Here's another J:

I have a J stone set in platinum and let me tell you, a well cut stone faces up darn white. I go down in color and clarity to get bigger. I wouldn't hesistate to get another J stone and for you, if it can mean the difference between getting the setting you want or not, it would be a pretty easy decision for me. I understand though that he wants higher color/clarity....I think if he could SEE some WELL cut I's and J's he may change his mind.

ETA: Sorry! I thought 4k was for the stone. Ok, we'll keep looking!

update: the ring will hold a center stone of 1ct-2.5ct....so I can go no lower then a 1ct. Ill just have to find a lower color and clarity that LOOKS white and eyeclean and HOPE and PRAY he goes for it. Also an option is: on the page where the ring set i want is, sys that you can make an offer that all reasonable offers will be accepted. The price I stated aove of $1860.00 is for 14k WG i COULD go up to 18K or Plat...but THAT MORE expensive. So with 14K WG for BOTH rings @ $1860.00 what do you think would be a REASONABLE offer that may be accepted? This way what i save on the semi mount I can then put into a center stone. Thanx again...Im sorry to be SUCH A PAIN...im just IN LOVE and want to figure out how i can acchieve this lol

So then you have about $2200 for the centre diamond? I would also ask the vendor of the setting if perhaps a .80 or .90 diamond might fit...?

If a smaller diamond would fit, then you could get something like these.

This stone is pushing the budget a bit at 2550 but is 0.86 and 6.18mm in diameter; but may not be eye-clean. It scores 1.3 ex/ex/vg/vg on the cut advisor and is within the ideal range. Would you consider a fancy to get a big enough stone to fit the setting and trade up for a round later?

Is it possible to just get the e-ring now and purchase the wedding band later? If that''s an option, that is what I would do!!!

I would try this strategy as well. This will give you a few hundred extra in your e-ring budget and you can worry about the wedding band later. My idea of *the ring budget* is that it only includes the e-ring...I had a separate budget for the wedding band...

Are you saying that they have the settings with different size heads and you can specify the head size from 1 carat to 2.5 cts.? If that is the case, a 1 ct. head will fit a stone just under a carat to just over a carat. My advice is to look in the .90 range to help your budget. However, your boyfriend is totally unrealistic about prices. You need the whole $4000 just for a center 1 carat stone, and that would be low color and clarity!!! I''d also want the setting to be 18k white gold.

Another thought would be to buy the 1 carat diamond now and put it in cheapo temporary plain solitaire setting that costs about $200 and then down the line maybe for your first anniversary re-set it into your dream setting.

Or, for that matter, if you''re really in luv with the setting, you could get a white round sapphire for the center stone & replace it with a diamond later on (make the sapphire a pendant or something). The Natural Sapphire Company has two rounds just over a ct in stock at around $500.
This one. and This one.

Ok...1st off I want to thank you ALL for your help so far. Yes I am aware that he needs to learn more about what a diamond costs lol. I myself am JUST learning. And on HIS behalf i DO have to say that he knows NOTHING about the setting as of YET. He is away on buisness and wont be back til the end of the month

It was just something that i HAPPEN to come across in my looking online. As far as being able to purchase JUST the e-ring...Im not sure. They are listed together and there is no option to buy seperate. As to the head I am not sure how that works. On the page describing the ring it didnt say what it can hold as to a center stone. So I contacted the seller and asked what size stone does it hold and she replied 1ct-2.5ct. I personally would have NO problem using a white Sapphire as the center. Im not a real BLING kinda girl. And it would suit ME just FINE...its HIM im worried about. My ONLY hope at THIS point is to speak with my boss whom used to be in the jewelery buisness. He still gets his wifes diamond jewlery from a wholesaler that used to bring merchendise to his store. So MAYBE iI can get a good deal through him. My boss alrteady told me he''d set up an appointment for me to meet with him.

Oh gosh, those friends who have friends who are wholesalers usually aren''t a better deal at all. Be very careful especially since it is your boss involved.

ditto..

also, one head cannot accomodate a 1 carat to 2.5 carat stone. they usually go in smaller incrimates...like 1-1.5, 1.5-2, 2-2.5 etc...

did you see the setting in person? I''m a huge advocate of seeing settings in person b/f buying if you can. they just look soooo different in real life, on your hand than in the giant pics we see on our computers. I would slightly worry about all the nooks and crannies in that setting and how dirty that ring will get and with the pave, you really aren''t supposed to put them in the ultrasonic so it may prove very hard to keep clean. which is a big deal to me if i''m spending thousands of dollers on a diamond ring.
