I have absolutely no diamond knowledge, but am looking at an engagement ring. The stone I am considering is:Cut: Princess - depth 73 table 77
    Size: 1.38 carat
    Color: E
    Clarity: VS1
Cost: $8,000Is this a good deal? Also does anyone know of a good place in Chicago to get an independant appraisal?

Sounds rather nice indeed. If you'll have a good experience, could you give a name of the store?

Thanks Leonid. The diamond has a GIA grading report, but the information I posted is all that I currently know. The seller is offering a 30 day, any reason, 100% refund--the way I see it, as long as I can get a reliable appraisal within those 30 days I really have nothing to lose, do you agree?
