Nope, it''s not the same setting. The one at WF looks to be higher quality to me.
Yes.

If you pull both pics up and keep going back and forth to compare, you can see the leaf design is more intricate on the WF band, and it also sticks out more (profile view), which seems to me it would have more "depth". I''d go with the WF band myself.

Don''t be afraid of getting a really well cut H or I color diamond, they should still face up quite nicely. And to save money on the mounting I would suggest getting 14K white gold, I don''t think spending the extra $100-200 which is 5-10% of your budget is worth getting 18K for. You''re better off using that money to go up one grade in clarity or get a slightly bigger stone.

Just my 2c. Good luck :)

The whiteflash one has a platinum head - makes a big difference. And, can''t be sure the WF one is a better photograph - but from the pictures the WF one appears to be better crafted and more substantial.

I really like the setting!

Well, I think a round would look better, but I''m not the one wearing it.

You can view the setting on blue nile that is similar to the one at wf with a princess or a round in it. Just click on the drop down menu just below the setting. Here is the link again.

Have you talked at all to your gf to see what she likes? Or have you been in a store to look at rings? What is the shape she looks at the most? I am also in your age range (22) but unlike EBree I prefer rounds. I think they are classic and won''t go out of style. So I would check to see what your gf prefers.

For your question about how important an ideal cut stone is... I think it is important to get the best diamond for the money. If she does decide to upgrade later she could still use the stone in the new ring, say as one of the side stones in a 3 stone ring or she could have it made into a pendant or earrings. If you bought a diamond of lower quality, it may not match the upgrade and it would kind of be a waste. I say get the best that you can afford.

Jamie,

I also prefer rounds. I was just saying that in my experience (friends, family), girls our age prefer princesses.

Oh ya, Ebree, I know what you mean. Most of my friends that are our age do prefer the princess cuts but there are a few of us that still like the rounds

Is it really worth paying a lil extra to get a hearts an arrow in around a half carat setting. Are they going to notice a difference. Will it increase in value much more?

I don''t have a H&A, so I can''t comment on wether it is worth the extra money or not. But, I would say that you would probably be fine with the White Flash Expert Selection diamonds. There aren''t many listed on the website right now, probably because of Christmas, but I would give them a call and let them know what you are looking for.

Also, if you are getting a round, you can go lower in color and clarity. An excellent/ideal cut round won''t show as much color as a princess. I''d say a G or H SI1 or 2. They''ll let you know if it''s eye clean.

Oh definitely! You want an ideal/excellent cut. You need to decide if you want to pay extra for the branded Hearts & Arrows -- the ACA''s at White Flash.

My feeling is, you are on such a limited budget, you want to get the most you can for your money, without sacrificing. This diamond would do that. Trust me, I don''t know if any of us could tell the difference between this and an ACA. It''s also upgradable, so in the future when finances allow, you can go bigger, with another ES, or an ACA. This would also be a bit less with the pricescope discount. And it''s facing up as big as the ACA you posted.

I tried for a grade lower color and clarity, but there''s slim pickins...

Consider the .6 something G SI1 at Nice Ice I linked earlier...can't find something I like better, honestly. Puts you within your budget, too.

Ok just an update. I have decided to go with the Tiffany 4 Prong setting. GF likes it, and it allows me to put more into the center stone. Now After looking at money and deciding a budget. I have roughly 2,000 dollars give or take a few dollars. I need the best diamond for that price. I am looking for a round. Hearts and Arrows would be nice, but not neccesarry. Just trying to find the best combo of quality size and price.

Here's a nice F/SI .56 http://whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-17884.htm#

If you want to go bigger, here is a very nice .78 J/SI. Please check out the J stones in platinum thread before deciding against J stones. A well-cut J will face up very white in platinum/WG.
