Help with Yellow Gold E-Ring Choice

I am looking at excellent cut diamonds between 0.6-0.7 carats, K-J color at the moment for an e-ring. I want to get my future fiance a yellow gold ring, so the warmer colors don't bother me. I want a solitaire for a reasonable price that doesn't swallow the diamond. I want to make sure the diamond shines bright :) I am not particularly fond of smooth solitaires in yellow gold. They look fine in white gold but for yellow gold, etched patterns or cable-like designs look better (at least to me). For example:

and

I'm leaning toward the cable design because it is thinner, but I'm curious what others think. Which would make a 0.6-0.7 carat diamond pop more? If there are any other ring suggestions, please feel free to link them!

Edit: Her ring size is a 7.

If you can get a whiter diamond, I would. It would stand out more against the YG.

Unfortunately those settings are a little out of my budget. Also, I feel like her taste is a little more reserved than those settings which I think are beautiful. I just think she'd feel they were a little much. As to the old cut diamond, probably not.

I never even saw that one. It's beautiful. As to the old cut diamond, I already have a diamond on James Allen picked out that's a J-Color with Strong Floro. That being said, what is the lowest carat you would go in a setting like that?

Yeah, I really like that setting. Please get that one. As for what size stone I would try for a .70. If you look at the videos you will see that they picture it with a .70 stone. https://cdn1.jamesallen.com/Images/loader004.gif

It looks nice with that size, IMO. My favorite is the .80 (which is about a 6mm stone). But they also show it with a .54 and it looks good too. So I think you have flexibility. You didn't post your budget. But I am hoping it is at least 2500 total.

Here are some stone options.

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.72-carat-j-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-745951 PUT ON HOLD NOW IF IT WORKS FOR YOUR BUDGET!! This stone is a FABULOUS find. Exactly the right stone for someone on a budget. Great pavilion/crown combo. A 60/60 style stone that will favor lots of white light but since it has that great crown it will also shoot colors, which I think is a great choice for a yellow gold setting. Very nearly 6mm in size due to that 60/60 So it's big for it's weight, but in the best way cause you aren't sacrificing anything! J color and GIA lab report. AND it has Medium fluorescence which will help with any tint AND discounts the price. SERIOUS FIND. I honestly couldn't have found a better stone to balance budget and quality if I'd picked the specs myself.

I do still STRONGLY recommend this setting though: http://www.ebay.com/itm/301568393761

The quality is just so much nicer and that ring is a knock out. Seriously. That seller is willing to bargain too. So I would best offer 550. And in the notes put that the seller agrees to size it to a 7 for you, included in the cost of the setting.
