I am a long time lurker. Finally decided to upgrade my studs to bigger and better pair. I really want a pair of 2 ctw excellent cut GIA cert'd. In order to get the biggest bang for the bucks, I am okay with I color stones. However, getting vs2 is a little more than what I want to spend. Is SI1 really all that noticeable for stones this big? Also, I have been looking at the cert online to try to picture how the ctones look irl with the inclusions. What should I look for? inclusions towards the edge?

thanks....

My expert advise: cut first, for briliance and sparkle. Very little difference between VS meaning very slight inclusion and SI meaning slight inclusion. We pay based on carat weight, cut, color and then clarity. Some SI's look better than some VS's. Go with what's within your budget and consider the cut first. Nothing wrong with a G-H color and even some diamonds graded I in color can be very close in color to G-H. Good luck in your search, after you compare a few pairs, you'll know. Just make sure they're close in diameter and depth.

yes... cut is my number one priority, hence I am only looking for excellent cut. My question comes in regards to clarity. I will be buying online so I will not be able to look at the stones in real life.
My question was if I go down to SI1, what should I look for in the cert? make sure the inclusions are on the edge? are one certain types of inclusions less noticable than others? clouds vs, feathers?

thanks

I think for studs, SI1 is perfect. Nobody is going to be close enough to your ears to notice any inclusions in stones with SI1 clarity, I think you could maybe even go down to SI2. I have SI1s for my studs and I can't even see anything with my 10x loupe.

Thats what I was thinking as well. But upon looking through the cert online, I see that SI1 has tons of inclusions, but I guess they are not noticable with naked eye. But still gets me a little worried since I will not be able to inspect them in real life.

what other online retailers can anyone suggest besides BGD and whiteflash and the obvious bluenile?

Whiteflash is always worth it to me because I can see the stones and I'd never buy SI stones without seeing them, plus they have a great upgrade policy if I ever changed my mind about color, size, etc.

But I don't like matching an I with an H and the diameters are not matched well enough. I'll take a quick look and see what they have.

These are a great match:

Blue Nile's Signature line is about the same price range as WF's top line. The problem with other BN diamonds is not being able to see the magnified images or the idealscope images which makes it tough to match a pair. There are just enough other vendors that do provide them that I just don't usually use BN.

Thanks......
When I did a search on whiteflash website, I did a pair search. Maybe I should do individaul search and look at the matching tab.

How's BG in comparison to WF? There are 2 pairs from BG I was looking at last night too. Dont have the link. Otw to work. Are there any other vendors I should be looking at.
Thanks

more question....
are regular wf non aca ideal less sparkly than the aca. I am trying to spend as little money as I can with much sparkle.
