Help with sizing for a men''s band US vs. European

I asked my fiance to go get his finger measured so that we could order our wedding bands. He came back telling me that his ring size is a 62 and 1/2. Does anyone know what the US equivalent is? I have no idea why he was told that size but really I''m sure the person just wanted him to order our bands from there. Can anyone help me?
