I’m trying to source a 2 ct round and my local jeweler sent me this stone they have instock.

THE DIAMOND HAS A BRILLIANCE REPORT OF:
WHITE LIGHT:H-VH
COLOR LIGHT:VH
SCINTILLATION:VH
Slotting it around $4k

Not sure if it’s a good diamond since that’s all the info I have.

Then I try to find something comparable on WF and I find this: https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-di...-vvs2-clarity-round-ideal-cut-lab-sku-p333833

But then I look for a 8x and find this which is significantly cheaper. So I’m at a loss.

Thoughts?

Hi deneed4spd,

I am in no way an expert but my guess is that they will tell you your jewelers choice has poor material based on the visible straining. Not to mention a price of $4K is very high for that quality and size.

The Adiamor stone is also CVD but looks like a bit less straining. Still a gamble. (Hey experts, is there pavilion twist on this one?)

The Whiteflash is HPHT and has nice cut proportions. It does not look to have blue nuance to me but I am just learning. That would be the choice of the three. Maybe the experts can find you more options.

Good luck hunting!

Absolutely don't pay 4k for that stone. The wf and 8x options are much better

Significant pavilion twist on the jewelers offering. Pass!

The WF is a solid stone, as would be expected from their Precision Cut line. I'm not picking up any blue nuance. It's best evaluated from the side, and sometimes environmental blue can be seen in the en face views. But @Kim N has the expert eye for blue nuance. Maybe she'll be able to chime in.

The Adiamor is a really great stone for the money. I like the material. There's a teeny bit of pavilion twist, but not bad in the grand scheme of things.

Check the pics on the gcal report.
When advanced images exist they can over rule other images when hunting twist.

OP the stone is a good choice.

Thanks for that! Seems so obvious in retrospect, but as a newbie I say, “Ooo shiny” and forget to check the science!
