Hi everyone,

I am new to the forums and have been looking with my wife for a new ring. We found this one on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/151903265086?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT , and was wondering if it was a good price, at 2990.00?

It is a .76ct solitaire, Color:J-K, Clarity SI1-SI2, old European cut in a platinum setting, with about .3 ct in the accent halo.

It has been a while since we looked at diamonds and I am not as well versed on what to look for in determining the price of a vintage ring. Any help that you all are able to offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Clarity greatly concerns me. I am getting that is a 'real' I clarity stone and that it will not be eyeclean.

Hi Gypsy,

Thank you for your response. Are you able to see inclusions from the photo? I am viewing this on a 13" screen and my eye sight is not the greatest.

I don't really like the darkness at the centre of your original ring tbh - especially that central facet that's dark in every picture (round 10-11 o'clock in the face-on shots).
This is very similar and happens to be on sale. See if they'll send you pics of the facet pattern up close?

If you like the target-halo style, that seller has a good number of others.
Also have a look at these which might suit you as well?

Hi foxinsox,

Thank you for your links! It gives us some great ideas and options, but we are looking exclusively for platinum (contact dermatitis) with a lower basket. Does that make sense?

Yes, I can in the first one. The second one has been too photoshoped for my taste.
