Help with Daniel K please

Hi everyone,

I am slowly starting the process of getting yet another RHR and have gone through almost every option out there and changed my mind numerous times. I really love the Tiffany Legacy and was given the original as a gift but returned it since I wanted to make a few changes. So I was looking into a custom made Tiffany Legacy Inspired. But as I am doing research, I keep coming back to the Daniel K (I believe it is Empress? The ring on their home page). I want a pink or blue sapphire (rather than a diamond) for either the TIffany Inspired or the Daniel K and Asscher is my favorite cut. I have a few questions I can''t seem to find the answers to:

1) Does Daniel K sell their Empress (if that is the correct name) with coloured stones or just diamonds?

2) Does Daniel K sell just their setting without center stone so I can add my own coloured stone?

3) Anyone know of any online retailers for Daniel K? When I type my zip code into their website, I don''t have a retailer near me.

4) Any idea on an original Daniel K Empress price? Can''t find any on their website.

5) Anyone have a Daniel K Inspired (ideally Empress) ring custom made and by whom? ( I see a lot of Tiffany Legacy Inspired custom made but haven''t come across any Daniel K)

6) If I did go custom route for Daniel K, any advice on who would be a good company to use?

7) Should getting a ring made be this mind boggling (in a fun way)? I am hoping to have a set made (earrings, necklace, bracelet, ring) and wanted to go custom to save on $$$ but am tempted to just get the originals since it would be much easier!

Any of these questions answered would be appreciated or any other advice on Daniel K / Tiffany Legacy / Custom making route would also be highly appreciated.

i actually purchased a DK empress ring from pearlmans closeout. they have one there now and according to the description have center stone options available so you might go that route first. they are priece well below the retail cost for a daniel ring.

to answer some of your questions:

1) i believe DK will only set diamonds into their settings ( you can find out for sure by calling pearlmans or another retailer)

2) DK will not sell the settings only

3) I''d check with Pearlmans, they are no longer retailers but still can purchase from them

4) DK rings are priced high with a mark-up similar to tiffany''s. the price will vary based on the center stone specs but the settings will be about 6K or higher

5) Leon Mege has a similar style and could make something very similar

7) if you love the DK as is and can afford it, I''d get the real deal. the workmanship and quality of the settings are second to none...they are perfect!

Deelight: Thanks for the links. Out of curiosity, how do you get to the closeout section on Pearlman's site? I swear I tried searching for their closeout inventory but couldn't find it - perhaps since my eyes are blurry from being online for a few hours by now.

Mrssalvo: thanks for the answers. I was afraid DK only sold his sets with diamonds. I am really looking for a coloured stone and would like an asscher (or maybe chunky cushion). I was also thinking of Leon Mege to do this. I actually have another project for him that I have in my mind so maybe he would do everything together. **Do you happen to have the link to the Leon that is similar to the Daniel K (I am not the best for searching and finding what I am looking for).** If I bought the original Daniel K outright, I could probably only get the ring. I was hoping to go custom to save some $$$ to get some matching necklace, earrings, and bracelet made!

Any other thoughts from others?

(Deelight, nevermind - I see the closeout link. Although is there a way to narrow it down to Daniel K so I don't have to view each page?)

sparkle,

pearlmans has the empress earrings and necklaces too so you might check them out. however, they are with diamonds and not colored stones. I do think if you are considering a cushion, you should ask pearlmans about putting a colored stone into the cushion setting they have in closeout since it seems that it could be an option and may be less $ than going completely custom. However, Leon made lovey''s ring that is almost exact to the DK...
