I am looking for a cushion cut (not crushed ice) in the 2.5-3 carat range. I had previously been limiting my searching to H or higher color, but recently saw this guy:

It seems like a heck of a diamond, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with color and cushion cuts? Will the I color really be noticeable?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for similarly sized/priced stones?

Thanks!

I think that stone is really lovely! So "I" seems to be around where some/most can start seeing some color. They usually face up
pretty white but you may see a hint of color on the side. Of course every stone is different.

I checked JA but didnt see anything that I thought was as nice as the one you found. Here are a few of the better ones just for
comparisons sake.

Edit...GOG has this H, you would need to talk to them about how eye-clean it is.

Still like the one you found better.

Thanks for the input! I requested some more photos of that diamond to see if I could get a better feel for the color. I only hesitate because people say that the larger cushion cuts are particularly likely to show the color.

Yes, this tends to be true but may be even more applicable to crushed ice-cushions. Stones that have good asets with good light
return will be brighter stones and show less colors then poorly cut stones (obviously the one you picked looks nicely cut with
nice images). It may not be "bright, bright white" but still white IMO (but then again, I'm not that color sensitive).

Since stones are graded (color) pavilion side up I like to go to James Allen and use the button that turns the stones on their side and look
at the sides of the stone for color or, you can also just turn the stones by hand so that their pavilions show. You can also go up to G/H
and look at their pavilions and down to Ks to look at their pavilions. Sort of gives you a relative feeling to how much color is in the
side of an "I" colored stone. Obviously this is relative and very UNscientific but sometimes it helps. Please post the new pictures you
get.

High carat "I"s
