Help with buying a Princess Cut

I am brand new here first post! After much going back and forth its come down to my future fiance wanting a princess cut, there was talk about emerald cut for a while but its done now.

Here is what I am looking at that where actually understand the characteristics. 2ct, F color, ideal cut, VS1 (thought about VVS2 but I keep reading that it wont make a difference so don't spend the money).

So I am pretty good there, what I dont understand as much is table, depth, etc. I have read that the table should be smaller then the depth on a princess which the one I picked is. Other then that what should I be asking about the diamond cert I have attached.

I plan on pulling the trigger in a day or so but I want to ask some more informed questions.

Have you seen it in person? Have a picture if buying online?

Buying online here is the 40x picture

Here are some good comps:

2.03ct, G, VS2

2.1ct, F, VS2

Both of those have AGS0 - Ideal optics. Since GIA does not grade cut quality for Princesses, you will have to use other tools to assess GIA-graded stones.

If the price of the stone you're looking at is close to either of the stones linked above, I would suggest going with one of the options I had suggested, as these have been vetted for cut-quality already.

The first one is close in price although the color is lower then the one I am looking at. Second one you listed had no price on it.

I would prefer to drop in color (particularly since the 'G' has fluorescence) rather than drop in cut-quality.

I imagine the F stone would be about 15-20% more than the G, due to its larger size and better color. You can ask Good Old Gold to make a video of both stones for you, so you can compare side-by-side, with your own eyes!

As JA for an ASET of the princess you are considering.

Ok I will do that, I will also check out GoodtoGold that is a new vendor for me.

Good advice above.
Take it from me, it it much better to get an ideal cut, rather than a better quality color, if you need to to decide between the two. I had what I thought was a great looking stone, only to find out it wasn't after it eas already set in a ring. Ot was one of the many, many duds out there in reargs to light performance.
Like many fancy cuts, Princess cuts can't be determined by certificates and number and ratios.
Look at some of the Good Old Gold videos on YouTube comparing Princess cuts. They will amaze you how different they can be. There's one that shows how a lesser quality color-but better quality cut stone-appears whiter than a poorer quality cut-better quality color stone-appears.
If you are stuck on the one you picked with the GIA, try and get an ASET as suggested above. You won't regtret it!
Good luck and Happy Hunting,
tnt

Hi SJ3 - I'm also looking to sell my 2ct princess cut and spoke with GOG on consigning with them, so feel free to reach out should they not have a diamond to your liking!

You should be in good hands there.

Good Old Gold knows what they're talking about when it comes to fancy shapes (Princess shape, etc.), and will be able to provide you some great guidance here. Between videos and light analysis, they will get you set up with the proper stone.

Best of luck!

I am getting ASET on the diamond I was looking at, and I am also going to look at GTG.

I will post the results for the experts, thanks for the help!
