Hello all,

I have been lurking this forum since my husband and I decided to get a new e-ring last year. My husband originally purchased a tiffany channel set e-ring with an I color vs1 stone. I was not really happy with the I color and we sold the ring a couple of months ago.

I contacted ID Jewelry last week and Yekutiel found 2 beautifully cut diamonds for me. We went to see them in person yesterday. They had a lot of nice pieces of jewelry on display and I enjoyed looking at them.

Yekutiel showed us 2 stones. One is 2 carat and the other is 2.02 carat. Both scored well on HCA and I could see arrows with a loupe. The 2.02 carat stone had more visible inclusions compared to the 2, but had a nice spread. I couldn't see any inclusions with naked eye in the 2 carat stone when viewed from top, but there was a one black carbon spot when on the side which Yekutiel said he'd be able to cover with a prong. There's about 0.15mm difference in spread between those 2 stones.

I am planning to get the Caroline from Vatche.

My husband is not sure if I should get one of the stones we looked at. Both of them are around $16000. He thinks I should save a little more and look for a G SI1. I have until Wednesday to decide. Please let me know what you think.

Thank you very much for reading.

I'm posting the certificate of the 2 carat.

Oh, a 2 ct. stone will be so pretty in the Vatche Caroline! The numbers on the report look fine. I think if the diamond was for me, I would go to G SI1. SI2 would not be "mind-clean" for me, personally. But I know twining wisps can be hard to see, so you are in the best place to judge if the stone is clean enough for you.

Hi diamondseeker,

I've been admiring your RB in the tiffany replica setting! I'm very thrilled that you replied to my post! Yeah, maybe those two stones won't be mind clean for me. Many small inclusions under the table in the 2.02 and the black carbon spot in the 2 bother me. I felt kind of pressured to select one of those stones in the store. Yekutiel said I wouldn't be able to find a great deal like that. I wonder if it is rude to ask him to search for an eye clean G SI1 with medium or strong fluorescence.

I don't think that it would be rude at all to ask that he find you a G VS1.I'd consider an eye clean (to your standards) VS2 or SI1 as well. I had a thought though...is your heart set on a 2ct stone?

Hi Christina,

Thank you for your response. I think I'll probably be fine with a 1.8+ stone with a great spread. I know I am color sensitive and would like to own an F or G color stone with fluorescence. I don't really care about clarity as long as I don't see inclusions with my naked eyes. However, I've come to realize that it is very hard to find an eye clean SI2. Right now My husband and I have $18000 in our diamond saving account, but wouldn't mind saving more to get a better stone. If you have any suggestion, I'd love to hear.

Yekutiel is calling in this stone for me. I'm afraid table might be too big. What do you think?
