Hi all,

First of all - this forum rocks (pun intended). After reading a bunch of posts I finally felt like I could wade through this madness with some authority!

SO, I'm trying to decide between a few diamonds, and in summary I'm wondering whether I should be focusing on getting the highest quality cut as opposed to high color/clarity. I'm looking at these stones:

1.32 EX/EX/EX E VS2 HCA1.6 $13,490.00
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/E-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1437020.asp

1.38 EX/EX/EX G VS2 HCA1.9 $12,155.00
http://www.eternitydiamonds.com/diamond_detail.php?id=597240&ref=pricescope

1.347 ID/ID/ID G SI1 HCA1.5 $12,393.90
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2721310.htm

And at the high end:

1.33 ID/ID/ID G VS2 HCA1.4 $14,524.00
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2721311.htm

Any help? The G/SI1 seems attractive since it's A Cut Above, and the inclusions in the report all seem to be on the sides and not on the table.

Thanks!

these look really good! i don't think you go wrong with any of them. but here are some other ones that are slightly cheaper/bigger but equally as well cut for you to consider:
1.40 G SI1 $13867 http://goodoldgold.com/diamond/8930/

also if you have time, may i suggest you read through this thread?

i went through many detailed points on there regarding color and clarity. basically in summation, i did alot of research before buying my ring and my initial specs were completely changed in order to maximise bang for buck without compromising on quality. the only time i would go down to SI2 is if there are twinning wisps (see the thread i linked you to, or do a search on PS). they are often described as people's "favorite inclusions" as they are completely invisible to the naked eye. so even though they look scary under microscope and the lighting they use to take those pictures, they are 10000% not visible. and that is what i went with and i couldn't be happier.

these all score 1.52 H SI1 $12670 http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1431019.asp
1.52 H SI1 $13370 http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-SI1-Premium-Cut-Round-Diamond-1397581.asp
1.60 F SI2 $13230 http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/F-SI2-Premium-Cut-Round-Diamond-1438243.asp

i really think this is the best way to get bang for buck, and would never recommend something i wouldn't buy myself (of course pending further information from the vendor). i'm also assisting some other members on here on their search and have given them similar advice, which they are taking. so we're waiting for the results of their search too!
