Hi,
I am new to this forum. I am 25 and I am in law school and I am looking to get married very soon here. I would like to propose in August, so I do have a timeline/deadline when I would like to get the ring for my beautiful girlfriend. I really really really love the Tiffany and Co. Three stone ring with the round center and the pear sidestones. She tried it on a while ago while we were at a mall out of town, and it looked perfect! I have looked and looked and looked and have found nothing that comes close to this ring. From the tapered edge to the way the diamonds sit flush (look at the fluidity of the curve over the top), to the heighth (perfect). Anyway, I love this ring, and I would like to get it for her. She is a size five, and I would like a little over one carat for the center and a around a third for each of the sides. Anything bigger on her starts to look too big. I am trying to do all of my homework and learn everything I can. It is a little overwhelming (this is from a law student!). For a ring like this tiffany wants about $16k. I am not stupid, and I know Tiffany and Co. is ripping me off. That price seems ridiculous to me and I would like to spend 1/2 that (or less). Does anyone know someone who can do an exact replica? Everybody in every jewlery store says they can but I do not believe anyone or trust anyone, because I feel like they are all used car salesmen. I saw the Vatche (speling?) one, and I like the Tiffany one better. Please help with any advice for pricing parameters, recommendations, diamond recommendations, anything is greatly appreciated.

I do not want to get ripped off. I know many many guy friends who spent way to much on a crappy ring from a mall store, it is really sad and I want to get a great ring for a great price. I hope this is possible.

Thank You all in advance, I really appreciate this website I have learned more here in a few days, than a lot of horrible visits to mall jewelry stores.

Hi wcoastjosh :) Welcome to pricescope

I would personally source my own centre stone (which we are more then happy to help you pick a stunner) and get Leon Mege to make the setting and source matching pear sidestones :D. I must ask does your GF have her heart set on a Tiffany''s ring or is it the style she loves? Would she be happy with a replica? No one will be able to make you an EXACT copy as it would infringe on copyright but it does not mean the ring would not be very similar in style and stunning :). LM''s work is beautiful and many here have gorgeous pieces by him :).

I don''t think you could come in at 1/2. Sorry.

No one can do an exact replica for you but there are similar ones such as the LM one that Deelight mentioned. Also keep an eye out on signedpieces.com where they sell second hand Tiffany jewellery.

ETA-and you're in luck - here

Many people here have bought from signedpieces and have all been happy with it.

I would go the signed pieces route....it is the size you want, at the price you want and you don''t have to wait for a custom ring to be made. Good luck!

If you want a tiffany but don't want to pay the $$, then the one Bee posted is the way to go!

If you just want a beautiful, but of course not exact, replica, Whiteflash can probably help you out, but I bet the price would be really close to the one on signed pieces. But then again, it would be brand new. Used doesn't bother me one bit, even for an e-ring, but then I am cheap! You GF may feel differently.

Nice find!

The Tiffany one fits the bill - true Tiffany w/o the rip-off factor that bothers you. Good luck!

Wow, thanks for the quick responses.

I have looked at the Leon pieces (I actually stayed up late last night loking at them!) They are beautiful, and I would be very happy with them. Of course the rings Kaleigh and Kirsty Darlings are incredible, gorgeous, and WAY outside my budget:) I really do like the one Bee found (thanks). It is a little smaller than what I was looking for, but it might work. Signed Pieces is legitimate right? I have not heard of them, and I would die if I paid that much for a fake. Are there other places like them? Do you think I could get a tiffany''s box if I bought the ring second hand? And would tiffany service it? (clean it etc.) Random questions I know. Again I did want about a carat in the center and around a half for the sides this one is a little smaller, it seems like for $8k I could get a replica with a bigger better stone (is the one in the ring from signed peices good/bad?). Ok, I am going to stop asking so many questions and let you guys answer, agan thank you so much, and I can''t believe how great it is to have people to talk to who know what they are doing without trying to sell me something!

I think Jewels had a great experience getting her Tiffany&Co rings from Signed Pieces. There have been many others on Pricescope too. Here''s a link to Jewels'' thread. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-tiffany-co-ring.53430/

You can also search for Signed Pieces Tiffany in the search box and you''ll find more. I think there may be an entire thread of Signed Pieces treasures!

Signed Pieces is highly regarded - I don''t think anyone here has bought a piece from them and found it to be other than advertised. You can, indeed, get the piece verified by Tiffany''s (I believe that they charge for the service), but with this ring, you wouldn''t necessarily need to do some of the things that you''re worrying about: it appears that the ring comes with its original box and papers. You could probably get a slightly bigger stone if you went the custom route, but this way you get the Tiffany name. It is a beautiful ring ....

susi has a Tiffany Lucida solitaire from Signed Pieces and dh97 has a Cartier eternity band from there too. From what I can recall of Jewels'' story, she called and told them what she was looking for. They kept an eye out for similar pieces and called her whenever something came in.

I know you said you''re on a timeline, but give them a call anyway. And that one posted by bee looks great. In person, it''s difficult for most people to tell if something is 0.8 carats or 1.0 carats. I''m sure your girlfriend will love the bling on her finger, regardless of how much over or under 1 carat the center stone is. A friend of mine got a pre-owned Tiffany diamond ring with a 0.91 carat center. He was aiming for over 1 carat, but honestly we all guessed 1 carat or 1.2 carats.

nice find, bee*! I think signed pieces is a really great option (and yes, they are totally legit. We purchased our wedding bands from them).

Unlike Imdanny, I do think you''d be able to put together the ring you desire for close to half of the Tiff price. Budget 5-6k for center stone, 1k for small pears, 2k for setting? Total is 8-9,000. Definitely possible. You could also save some additional money if you can find a stone just under 1 ct, center stone maybe closer to 4k.

By the way, I love your choice of ring. Totally classic! (Kaleigh''s ring is one of my absolute favorites)

What a beautiful ring. I also think you''d be able to find someone to make it in your budget.

You seem to have all the same benefits when buying from signedpieces, although as someone else mentioned I think that you might have to pay for a service charge when getting it sized. The center stone scores a 1.6 on the hca so it''s definitely going to be a sparkler. I think it depends on whether she''d prefer the tiffany ring or not. I know that you wanted something a bit bigger but do you think that she''d prefer this one or a bigger non-brand one? There wouldn''t be a huge difference when you''re looking at them.

Ok, I called signed pieces and tiffany today. Signed said they will look out for a larger one for me (going to a trade show next week in vegas). They were nice, BUT I asked if the pear sidestones were a total of .25, or if thy were .25 each. Powell (guy who worked there), said he took it out of the case and they are total of .25. That does not sem right to me as if they were each .125, they would be very very small. When I talked to tiffany, they gave me prices an sizing from .5 carats for the center ($5kish) up to 1.1 ($16kish) But they said they said the sides even for the small centers were like .2-.3 carats so I think Signed is wrong on the sides, and I think the sides are probably .25 each. They did say it has the box and certificate and I can get it appraised by tiffany ($200ish). Also, I would have to have Tiffany resize it. (doable).

SO here I am again, I ran the numbers and the ring at Signed and I could get the same stone for about $3kish from pricescope. I think the ring would be like 2k (thanks icekid), and the sides like $1k. so it seems to me that I am buying a $6k ring for $8k. Now the guy at signed says it will have better resale, I have done my homework, and that is probably true to an extent. BUT I would be saving $2k upfront anyway by making the same ring, (so I can eat that dimuniion without actually taking a loss) and I hope and pray this will not be a resale, unless I can afford something later that is incredible, and I would still want her to keep this because it is our first ring. Or I can take the same money and build a maybe nicer ring. ($2k more into the center stone will get me better color, and clarity, carat, and cut?).

Bee I do not know much about the HCA numbers, but I did run it on that too, and it looks borderline between the inside of the 2 boxes which apparently is very good. (thanks!)

My girlfriend really honestly does not care where the ring is from and has told me she does not care it can be a cheap ring, because she wants us to get married. But I do not want to get her a cheap ring, I want to get the nicest ring I can afford right now.

So again I come back to a smaller sparkly ring from Signed Pieces that is exactly the band I want. Or go the custom route, with everybody''s help picking the center stone. (I assume someone seting it will match sidestones to it). I am thinking Leon sounds good and I will contact him tomorrow ( I am in cali so the time thing stinks - I have to make calls on luch). Also, I have come across excel diamonds alot and they sound good. People have referred a few loal people to me, but I am afraid of how it will turn out. I like the idea that Leon has done this before, and I like the idea that Excel does alot of other tiffany stuff, and they should be able to get the taper on th band right. But again, it may not be exactly like the tiffany one, and I really love that ring.

Well as always, thank you for answers to my comments and questions and concerns!

I know other people will know the answer to this, but can't Signed Pieces send you the ring to take a look at it for a couple days with no obligation?

I think you won't go wrong with either route, frankly.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I look at it this way...you originally posted that you saw this Tiffany & Co ring a few months ago, GF tried it on, you both loved it...you said yourself that it was "perfect". That being said, I kinda think that Bee finding the identical ring at Signed Pieces (minus a few size points that you may or may not be able to even notice) is fate and a lucky break for you

! I am not much for branded rings, it really is not a big deal to me, but if I could get that T & Co ring for $8K, I would grab it up. I have purchased from Signed Pieces before, and I have returned merchandise to them. Both were easy and trouble free.

I would get a ring custom made, personally. Neither of you cares about the Tiffany name and this ring at Signed Pieces is not exactly what you want. Plus, it''s still a Tiffany so it''s still overpriced for what it is, in my opinion. (Not trying to bash Tiffany or start a debate, but a .87 center stone with small pears for $8k is overpriced in my book!)

If you want a 1 carat center stone with pear sidestones, I would call or e-mail Whiteflash and get a quote on how much the setting would be. Then check out their selection of 1 carat "A Cut Above" hearts and arrows diamonds. I''m helping a friend right now so I was just looking at their selection and I know you can get a 1 carat starting around $5k. Whiteflash custom made my engagement ring and I am extremely happy with it. And I recommend Sheerah-she helped me with my engagement ring and a pair of diamond studs later on and she''s great!

I''ve seen a few solitares with pear sides on Blue Nile. You could add a center stone of about a carat for a little more than your budget, but you might want to look into that, too. Good luck!

Source the center stone yourself from one of the pricescope vendors, and have Leon source your pear sides and make the ring. He can find lovely matched pears and his eye is impecable. His 3-stone round with pear sides is so wonderful, I would have absolutely no qualms about getting it vs. the Tiffany, esp. as your girl is not hung up on the name.

If she was hung up on the name, then that signed pieces option is a gift dropped from the sky, but you can get bigger stones in an equally gorgeous ring by going custom.

I would think carefully about what your center stone budget is, what color/clarity combo you are happy with, and start looking. If you want help, post your desired specs.

I agree, source the center stone, and let Leon Mege source the pears. I had him make me a 3 stone ring, oval center with half moon sides, he definitely has a great eye.

FYI my pears are .68 tcw, so .34 each. See avatar.

Best if luck to you, can''t wait to see what you decide!!!

I thought I recalled your pears being a bit over .3 each, Kaleigh. So it sounds like Pawel was right about them being .25 total, since Kaleigh''s center is 2.36ish. Your pears will be pretty small to get the right proportions.

And I totally hope you go with Leon. His three stones are so fluid and perfect. He also has a great eye for picking side stones! Good luck, can''t wait to see what you end up deciding.

FYI Leon will probably charge around $1800 for that setting, if you go with his classic solitaire. That was his quote to me a few months ago for the classic three-stone. So it looks like your estimate is right on track. I say go the custom route then. I would love a Leon much more than a Tiffany, personally.

Hello!

I woke up early this morning (california), and called Signed Pieces again. I talked to Isaac who was VERY helpful and friendly and awesome. I told him my situation (law school = some debt, but will be a god future customer) He offered me the ring from Tiffany for $6700 out the door shipped. I am going to purchase it from him, as this is a great price and it is an awesome ring. I priced the diamonds in this ring before, and he ran through it with me too, and he was right, this is around what I could have this same ring made for. I know using Leon would be wonderful, but this fits my price range even better, and it is exactly what I wanted. I really do feel like this is a major blessing just to find this ring! Thank you all for your help, I would NEVER have found this type of deal on my own! I can''t believe how great it is to have great honest people who really want to help me in this process. Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Something told me you really wanted to give her THAT style ring from Tif''s ( but within your budget) - congrats!!!!!!!! Come back with hand pics after the proposal. BTW - what size are the side stones - did you get that clarified????

oh that''s really wonderful! i had been ogling that ring for the past week and i''m glad that a ps''er is ending up with it. that''s a really great price, and i seem to remember another ps''er with nearly the exact same carat weight Tiffany ring and thought it had great finger coverage. yay!

Congrats on your purchase - it really does seem fortuitous!

I have a T & Co round with pear sidestones for my e-ring as well and love it. My center stone is a .83 with pears totaling .32. Honestly, that 3-stone look is so sparkly that most people have guessed the center stone to be closer to 1 carat. And what a great price! We purchased mine from T&Co in 2003 and paid a lot more than that

I''m a law student too so will have to try the "I''ll-be-a-good-future-customer" next time I go to purchase

- thanks for sharing!

Congrats again!

wow, signed pieces really comes through for you! That''s awesome, and the ring looks phenomenal. I have no doubt both you and your girl will be thrilled with the choice

congrats!

Wow! I am so excited for you. I think it will look awesome! Please, please come back and post pics when you get it!
