So, for Christmas, I'm getting DH a bunch of vinyl records (some classic punk - he's a musician), so I also want to get him a retro/vintage looking turntable with the capability to record directly to MP3, but I'm having trouble finding anything that a) looks cool and b) plays well. Everything I've been finding has mixed reviews and I'm torn as to what to get. Does anyone have one? Can anyone recommend a good one? I'm willing to pay up to $350 but all the ones I'm seeing run about $150-$200 so I'm concerned about quality.

Thanks.

Thorens or Dual are my dh's recommendations Lil misfit for a vintage turntable.

No capability of MP3 recording though sorry. Thorens and Dual are quality beautiful affordable and classic turntables if you don't need the MP3 recording capability.

Not vintage, but I have an ION turntable which I have used to convert all our vinyls into mp3 files which I have downloaded on my iPod. ( I Have a ton of vinyls from the 1970s and 1980s) I play them on our BOSE soundock and the sound is phenomenal.
