I have a family diamond that my girlfriend wants to use in her engagement ring (good news for me), it is .62 carat so I want a setting that really focuses on the stone. The diamond is round and beautiful.

She LOVES the micro pave bands that are SUPER THIN!

My question is, where can I find a ring that showcases the diamond, with a thin thin thin micro-pave band, that is simple but unique??? Any help will be much appreciated : )

DBurton that is lovely that you have an heirloom stone to give to your girlfriend. What a lucky girl! Now, on the setting, maybe if you give us a rough estimation of your budget then the lovely experts on here can chime in with some settings?

For micropavé, Leon Megé is frequently recommended around these parts, but I believe he does not come cheap.

congratulations!!

I think you should check out the Tacori lineup (on their website), and check out my post just down a bit about two different solitaire settings I''m considering for a similar stone. Also, Tacori does a lot of customizing, so you could get micropave on the second one if you like it!

Good luck and enjoy the search! :)

ds -- that''s a wonderful suggestion. that ritani is GORGEOUS!!!

I'm looking to spend up to $5,000 on the engagement setting. Thank for all the suggestions so far and keep them coming!

As DS suggested Pearlmans is a great place to start...and now that you have released your budget...you might consider a paved head...look at Pearlmans collection you have many options using his line...and contact him to see what options are available for your size of stone.

Pearlmans collection (this link just gets you to the line...there are many choices there that you may find thinner-just click through)

I would also consider a pave halo head...again now that you have released you budget...you can get more bling than just a paved band ring. The halo adds interest and a detail that a usual typical head can't offer. Also it makes the diamond look larger. A halo on a thin pave band with that sentimental stone would be more than she wished for, I am sure. Look to Pearlman and to James Allen for a very unique head in his Danov line. Look at the profile of the head...it has so much dimension and interest in all angles.

here is a three ring set that is JA's line...it has the thin pave as the main attraction and gives her options to wear bands after you marry for a totally different and fun look. With your budget you really can get alot for your $$$. (again what you are looking at is 3 rings...not just the one. See how the other two fit nicely under the head?)

Here is a Danov single pave halo modern head with a unique side profile. Cool huh? Young and modern.

With the James Allen choices you can choose white gold that is less than you other choice of Platinum. But with your budget you have so much to choose from.

Can you find out if a halo head is something she would like...or is this something you plan to proceed with no more input and surprise her? If so the board can offer their opinions that may assist you in making the right choice. Can you tell us what size her finger is?

If you want to consider a halo, then by all means take a look at:

But I do want to add that according to your description above, that ring would not cost $5000 since she wants very thin micropave. Adding a halo will bring the price up some.
