Im not too familiar with diamonds and I think I have narrowed my search down to two stones attached are the links which features the AGS reports, diamond images and idealscope pictures, one is a VS1 H color and the other a VS2 G color, the light return on the H stone appears to be better by the idealscope image but iv always heard take color over clarity, opinions wanted, for the 300 dollar difference what would you do?!

vs1 h - http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?cid=130&item=1197192
vs2 g - http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?cid=130&item=1193766

They are both well cut stones -- both came out excellent in the HCA.

They are really similar stones so it's a matter of personal preference -- would you prefer slightly better color or slightly better clarity?

Id like a better color but i wasnt sure how much if any is the difference between VS1 abd VS2, either way something shouldnt be seen by the naked eye but i didnt want there to be a big difference between the two

If you prefer the G color, then I would call up James Allen and have them take a look at the stone to make sure it is eyeclean to your satisfaction. I personally would not be concerned about the difference between VS1 and VS2.

Thank you very much for your help, id normally do the shopping in person and ask around more but I want to suprise my girlfriend when I get off the plane from Iraq

I would prefer better color. You won''t notice much different between VS1 and VS2. Nice stones!

You''re very welcome!

Your GF is going to be very excited -- it''s a beautiful stone. Have you picked out a setting yet?

She wants a thin band four prong setting, white gold. I am partial to the four prong as well. Yea I think itd make a really nice ring, she wanted something around 1ct and wouldnt know the difference between a j color low polished un symetrical diamond, but was really excited by the brillance of a leo, after reasearch i found maybe a ideal cut stone with not so many facets and better quallity would suit her taste (1ct. size) and mine of quality better. Idealy I wouldnt want to spend this much but shes worth every penny and its not a car and doesnt depreciate as such

Sounds like it will be a beautiful ring - I think either stone will be lovely

Sounds great! I really like the four prong settings as well.

I''m sure once you see her face, you''ll be glad you spent the $$! Good luck with the proposal!

thank you!
