Hi Guys,

do you think the picture I’ve attached shows a big difference in size? Can you tell? In context I can switch my diamond to the bigger one by moving down from a H to I colour (keeping everything else consistent cut clarity etc) the move would make my diamond 3x excellent, H colour SI1 1.03 round 6.42mm to I colour 3x excellent SI1 1.20 round 6.78mm so 0.35mm size increase circumference but price would also increase by approx $1300 or £1100GBP. Can you notice the size difference and do you think it’s substantial or negligiable?
Thanks

Can I see a difference when I compare the two stones to each other? Yes, absolutely. Would I notice a difference in my day to day life when I’m not comparing the two? I’m not sure.

I think a good way to decide whether that’s the way you want to go is to figure out what you’d do with the £1100 otherwise - hypothetically, would you rather put it towards a slightly bigger stone or a new pair of earrings or something? Or, if your ability to upgrade is not time sensitive, would you rather wait and upgrade in the future? If you have an upgrade policy that allows for many incremental upgrades you could do this, but personally I’d rather get something else and/or upgrade to something significantly bigger in the future. This of course supposes that you’ll want to upgrade to something a lot bigger, not that you’re comfortable at this size. But thats just my $0.02 :)

I do see a difference. Lovely size!

Thanks. Face up size difference is roughly 10% but price increase is approx 35%. Trying to work out if the increase in size justifies the increase in cost and downgrade in colour

Thanks. It’s a hard one. Your right if it’s not really noticible then money is best placed used for something else but I could spend more if it is noticeable in real life. I suppose I don’t really want to upgrade in the future as it will be sentimental ring so just trying to make correct desision just now!

The size difference is definitely noticeable to me. Another idea is to switch to a marquise or pear shape because they look largest for the same carat size.

I totally feel you on the sentimental aspect of things, I’m the same. I don’t plan to upgrade my ring ever (if I ever do, then I’ll still keep my diamond and use it for something else! I don’t plan to get rid of the diamond!)

I have a suggestion - cut out circles that are the mm size of the two diamonds you’re considering if you can (you’ll need callipers to be able to measure them that accurately though) and stick them to your finger. You can then experiment on whether the difference is noticeable to you or not.

If you're sentimental and can afford the larger stone, go for it. She will wear this for the rest of her life! Over the course of many years, it is not a big cost difference. (Coming from someone who can easily justify a bigger diamond, haha)

I can definitely see the size difference! I think it will show up even more in the 3-D reality world.

I definitely see a size difference...and agree with @tyty333, I think it will be even more noticeable IRL.

The difference is noticeable to me, however, I am not certain if the jump in price is justifiable.

Personal preferences and all that.

DK :))

Carat weight (size) is the most noticeable of the "4Cs", but it's what you value the most that counts. If it's worth $1300 to you to have a noticeably larger diamond, then go for it.

I see the difference very obviously.... right away I see the right is bigger. And I will go for the right if I were in the market for it.

H and I color is a great choice. Depend on how color sensitive you are. But their color difference is negligible to me, the size is not. In the 1 ct size it’s difficult to tell for me, if I have to stare at it for long of course I can tell. But who is going to stare at it like that?

i can see the difference, but not much though. so it's up to you if you want to pay $ for the difference in size
