Here is my current set-up

This is my problem. I didn't realize I was going to want a matching wedding ring when I got my e-ring. I love the alternating sapphires and diamonds on each ring, but together....not so much I guess! I don't see any new rings coming in the near (maybe distant?) future so it is what it is. I am thinking of having the sapphires replaced with diamonds on my e-ring.

Do you think that would make each ring appear more distinct? What looks good in your eyes?

Thanks for your feedback!

Rings have a tendancy to spin... when the pattern goes off, its the kind of OCD thing that gets under my skin ;)) If it were me, I'd keep them looking distinctly different and replace the sapphires with diamonds on the ering, but keep them as is on the WB.

HI:

Would a 1mm spacer make a difference, visually, for you?

cheers--Sharon

Yes, I would prefer all diamonds on the e-ring. Your emerald cut is beautiful!

I agree with DS....keep the e ring simple with just diamonds. Can I ask you though....who made the rings? They're gorgeous!!!!

I like it as is. I think they look really cool and distinctive together!

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

I'd keep sapphires in the band. Do all diamonds in the engagement ring. And add a spacer with 1 thin line of milgrain across the top of it between them. If it were me.http://www.jewelbasket.com/jbnnpaprika-white.html Like this band as a spacer

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

I like the all diamonds in the ering just because then it would look beautiful together but with a lesss matchy matchy feel

ditto what Enerchi said, make the band on the e-ring all diamonds and keep the w-ring as is (and get a second one just like it to sit on the opposite side of the e-ring so it is flanked by matching sapphire/diamond bands is my additional suggestion)....

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

I'd replace the sapphires with diamonds. Nothing against sapphires but you get an almost polka dot feeling with the alternating. I think maybe you are right - the addition of the wedding band just equals too much.

Your diamond is gorgeous though!

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

How about switching the diamonds from the wedding band with sapphires from the e-ring? No new stones and two distinct rings. :)

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

I had a set exactly like this for my first marriage (1989) except with a small marquise center diamond in YG. It was very unique at that time and I had loads of compliments on it. I really loved it. I do see your point & love the suggestions others have come up with for you. I think it would look fab to have the wedding ring all diamond and the ering kept alternating. I love your EC!

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

I originally had two amethyst pear sidestones surrounding a marquise diamond center because purple is my favorite color. My hubby hated it! He said it just didn't look like an engagement ring to him. He was willing to change the amethysts out for diamonds. I thought it was funny that he was so bothered by it

I like the idea Jess has - swap sapphires with diamonds, so your ering is all diamond and your wedding band is all sapphire. Then you retain all of the sentimentality, but still get a whole new set.

Ditto.

Is your set from Blue Nile? How long have you had the setting? You may be able to exchange it for a different setting. I would call them first and try that route. If they won't then I would change out the sapphires for diamonds. Or solder them together so they are always lined up. Either way, your set is beautiful!

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

Thank you all for your feedback and ideas. I think I will go ahead and look into getting the sapphires changed out for diamonds.

I forgot to mention keeping the diamonds and sapphires alternating on my wedding band is important to me because my original wedding band also had the same design but in yellow gold ( I never had a diamond e-ring before now). Sapphires and diamonds are our birthstones, so I'm sappy about that. :D

dani and feb03bride, my set is just a stock setting from JA. They just customized it for me by changing out some of the diamonds for sapphires. It's not returnable as it is considered custom and I've had it since March.

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

I am thinking an all sapphire wedding band. or get a diamond band to go in between the 2 rings. Maybe make the shank of the ering all sapphires and the wedding band all diamonds.

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

You could just replace the top half of the sapphires in your engagement ring and leave the sapphires on the underneath side where it really wouldn't matter if you wanted to save some $$. I like it as is but if it bothers you take out the sapphires in your engagement ring. Love your emerald cut diamond.

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

I'm late, and sounds like you've already decided, but I vote all diamonds on the ering as well! Also wanted to say your diamond and wedding set are just gorgeous!

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

I like it.
It's different.

If you replace the sapphires with diamonds it will look just like everyone else's ring.
Then again, that's what lots of people want.

+1 .....I say leave the set as it is. I personally like it very much and as Kenny said, if you replace the sapphires on the shank of your ER with diamonds you will end up having the same ring that sooooooo many other people have...Your set is very original and different...it's interesting ;))

Then again, maybe there's a reason why setting the shank with alternating colored stones and diamonds isn't more popular. Personally I think it's a very busy look that competes with the center stone for attention. That's why I voted to change it. :wink2:

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

I must say, I have sapphires in my ring and I hate it. I wear it as an ering since I don't have one yet either. Maybe I would like it if they were smaller. Not sure. But I am exchanging them for asscher diamonds and keeping my alternating band. Sapphire is my birthstone and diamond is my two boys birthstone. Congratulations on getting your rings. They are beautiful and I love the EC too ;)

Xsouzie has a ring just like yours but all diamonds, just Incase you want to see what it will look like. I hope she doesn't mind me sharing. It's so beautiful.

I totally agree with kenny. When I looked at your set, I really liked the fact that it was 'different' in a great way :appl: :wavey:

That was EXACTLY my thought as well. My 2nd choice would be switching the e-ring sapphires out for diamonds & leaving the wedding ring as is for sentimental reasons.

Personally, I do not like alternating color stones together -- but obviously you do because you picked it TWICE! :twirl:

Re: Help! Should my e-ring have a do-over? Poll and pics ins

I picked option 3. I can see why the non-alignment of the two rings could bother you. What about getting a second matching wedding band to wear on the other side of your e-ring. Perhaps third ring may make it into a cute checkerboard sapphire/diamond pattern more pleasing to your eye?
