Recently purchased a diamond waiting for to arrive in the setting, I thought I researched and researched but alas double and triple checking while waiting I am worried what I purchased might be too "steep and deep". Hopefully with gia rounding and the 80% lower girdle leakage wont be too bad? HCA on it scares me, I would ultimately like to keep it and not return it but if I completely messed this up returning is something I will strongly consider. Originally I had looked at a larger cushion cut but viewing round diamonds in person the brilliance vs cushions flipped me. I thought if I went off "ideal" dimensions I would be safe for brilliance but I am starting to think I put too much trust in gia xxx. My original intent was to go for brilliance over size. Either way any help is appreciated and thank you in advance.

I dont think they have the correct video for that diamond.

The stat says IF
The diamond in the video clearly has a carbon spot that would be visible -possibly without a loupe even.

Plugging your diamond's depth and table %s along with crown and pavilion angles into the Holloway Cut Advisor scores a 4. Normally people on PS look for diamonds that score below a 2.0 on the HCA. for a ring gem. Your diamond scores good in light return, fire and scintillation and very good in spread for a diamond its weight. If you want a higher performing diamond then I suggest that you return this diamond. Do not go by GIA triple excellent when choosing a diamond. GIA uses two dimensional modeling and averages their measurements. An AGS report would be more accurate. If you would like PS members to help you with your search then start a new thread with your desired shape, color, clarity and budget. There are some people here who can help you find a really beautiful gem for your hard earned money. Good Luck with your search.

There is a pretty wide range on GIA XXX stones.

Is there a decent return policy on your purchase? I’m sure you can do better if you wish. I’m wondering if you need IF clarity on a stone this size, sort of paying for something you can’t see??

Just as an example, for the same money you could buy something like this beautifully cut stone:

You can do much better.

Do you have the GIA number

Since it is an Ideal cut by GIA you will get a magnificent brilliance out of it and your second half will be very excited about it.
I do not support all that pursue of the ultimate diamond on earth, it will have so much brilliance you will be very satisfied.

If it was for me I would take DEF VS diamond

Thank you for the feedback, due to time constraints of my own doing I have to stay with Ritani. I wish I had seen the white flash diamonds and ironically they aren’t too far from me.

I swapped it out to this one:

Thoughts? Hopefully a vast improvement... I thought I did a lot of research if only I had found y’all beforehand . Thank you again for the feedback.

Nice one!:appl:

New one is really pretty.

I used to think that until I bought a crafted by infinity diamond to see what the fuss was about. I’m hooked now. It turns out, I am all about the fire over white brilliant flashes.

It also turns out, I’m not a fan of a 60/60 generally speaking. And I love a 55% table. Who knew?!

Thank you very much all for your input and help. I will post a picture once it arrives so hopefully someone else doesn't make the same mistake I did. I am sure there are hundreds of similar posts but thanks again for steering me in the more right direction haha. Cheers everyone:dance:
