Hi, I'm new to colored stones and seeking ideas. A while back I bought 2 of these stones, they are roughly round with 10 sides. One is a 7mm spess garnet, the other an 8 mm chrome green tourmaline. I think both are lovely and I am now looking at setting them, but the ideas I have are for round stones and Im not sure will look right with the 10 sides.
If anyone can point me towards any photos of these stones set I would be really grateful ( cant find any using the search function)
Cheers

I would think round settings would work just fine unless you wanted to emphasize the 10 sides. If that's the case then maybe a bezel setting would be better. However, we need to see some pictures of these lovely stones.

Gene's Star 80 cut is one of my favorites, and like Kismet said, you can treat it like a round. If you want to emphasize the 10 sides, then I'd stay away from halos, but a 4-prong round setting should work fine. I'd recommend placing the prongs on the flat sides, rather than the more delicate points.

I have several star 80 stones, and I've used round and cushion-shaped halos, as well as a simple, 4-prong basket setting - feel free to search my threads, or if you need pics, let me know and I'll post a few.

And yes, we NEED pics of your stones!!
