So I'm in the market for a cushion cut stone and I am so out of my element here. I'm not really worried about the specific specs, I just want to get the most bang for my buck and have it be eye clean. In my research, I noticed that some of the lesser carat stones are actually bigger than the higher carats, so I'm wondering if it's smarter to look at the actual dimensions? I also prefer the stones with a smaller ratio. I've done a comparison on the James Allen site...any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I am sorry to say all of the 8 options do not look well cut. Let me see what else I can pull up on JA.

Oh wow...see, I have no idea what I'm doing. Thanks for taking the time to check them out!

If I understand your post correctly, you prefer a squarer stone?

There are more I could suggest but firstly, I'm not sure of your ratio preference (you wrote it but I'm not sure if I understand it) and secondly, I am not a fan of those with a strong X in the middle and so did not suggest any although there are some that look well cut. And thirdly, I'm not sure which flavour of cushion you like best so I did suggest 2 with a strong symmetrical pattern and one that doesn't exhibit a strong symmetrical pattern.

Thank you! Sorry to be more clear about the ratio, what I meant was I prefer the stone to be more square, as opposed to rectangular.
And I'm not sure about the flavour. I think I prefer the antique cushion, but the crushed ice is beautiful too. Is that what you mean? I apologize if I sound like an idiot, I've been trying to read up on cushions, but there is just so much!

If you like the old cut cushions (as I do), check out the antique dealers recommended on this thread. We ended up getting my e-ring from an antique dealer after my Chap checked out a million diamonds online. Also jewels by grace has some nice looking stones and rings if you like an old cut.
