Hi all,
DH has found someone selling a 1ct OMC on one of his forums... He gave me the stats, but i'm not too sure when it comes to old or fancy cuts. The stats are as follows:
Crown- 16%
Table width- 57%
Pavillion- 43%
Girdle- Medium
Finish- Very Good
Crown angle- 40 degrees
Depth- 68%
Culet- small

Do these numbers make sense?

1) Define OMC
2) Can't judge fancy shapes by the numbers
3) 16 + 43 + Girdle = 68 (hmmmm) pretty thick girdle or no they don't make sense.

Hmmm... Don't really have more info. The seller said "OMC", which assume to mean Old Mine Cut. He is near me, so I think I will set up a meeting and have a look myself- as you said it's hard to judge a fancy cut by numbers. I think the guy may have mixed up some numbers when giving the stats... the stone itself looks nice in the few (somewhat blurry) pics, but it's hard to tell. This is exactly what the guy emailed DH-
"The profile is a large flat round-ish face with 10 or so facets that taper to a wider ring that the gold is set onto. Then it funnels quickly to a point. The measurements are: 6.1/4.2 mm Crown: 16% Table width: 57% Pavilion: 43% Girdle Thickness: Medium Finish: Very Good Crown Angle: 40.0 degrees Culet: Small Depth: 68%"

I don't know for the other stats but the table is too large for an OMC.

The more the table is small, the more the pattern will make is show!

I was thinking that this stone is perhaps not an OMC.... I will look at it tomorrow and maybe I can snap a few good pictures to share.
