Hi all,

First time posting but I would like to thank you all for the info that I have gleamed from other threads.

I am planning on proposing to my girlfriend in the next month to six weeks.
I have been looking at rings for a while (as I know my GF would like me to have a ring when I ask), thankfully she trusts my opinion and I think I know what she will like.

The setting I like the most is the Sholdt half-bezel in 18k White Gold.

I have been looking for a RB to match to this. (My Total budget is about $9500)
So far I have seen the ring as available from Brian Gavin, would anyone have any recommendations on where else I might find it?
I would also be interested if someone knew of a similar setting that they would recommend?

I have found these two diamonds which I think would work well but as usual I would appreciate some further advice.

1.02 H VS2
Cut Ideal
Sym Ideal
Polish Ideal
Strong Blue Fluor
Table 56.3
Depth 61.6
Crown 34.9
Pavilion Angle 40.8
Pointed Cutlet
Girdle - Thin to Medium
$7200

1.09 H S1
Cut Ideal
Sym Ideal
Polish Ideal
Strong Blue Fluor
Table 56.3
Depth 61.5
Crown 34.9
Pavilion Angle 40.9
Pointed Cutlet
Girdle - Thin to Medium
$7200

I have asked that they confirm if the 2nd diamond is Eye Clean, both score below 2 on the HCA.

To be honest I think I am drowning in information and could do with a bit of reassurance that the above appear to be good diamonds.

I am open to any suggestions that people have.

Thank you in advance

I'll leave the stone comments to the RB experts, specs on both look fantasic to me.
I have the Sholdt semi-bezel with a square emerald cut 1.11ct diamond. I love this ring!!!! You have such an excellent setting choice. The lines are curvy, craftsmanship is amazing, the gold looks like liquid. I went thru Pearlmans for my setting. Julian handled my transaction. Customer service and communication was exceptional. They offer a PS discount and their quote came in lower than BGD. Call or email for a quote and tell them you are from PS.
Don't know what your timeline is but the entire setting process takes about 4 weeks due to Sholdt hand making every ring. Please post lots of pics when you have the finished ring. There is a lot of Sholdt love on here!

Beautiful setting and beautiful diamond choices! My preference would be the 1.09 if it is eye clean to your standards. Ask the vendor about that. But if this is a BGD diamond, buying both the stone and setting in one place does have a convenience factor that might be worth considering. Also-- and I've never tried this so don't know if it is possible - but if you get a price from Perlman's, maybe BGD would match it?? No idea - but could be worth exploring.

Love your setting - good luck!!

If the OP is purchasing his diamond from BGD then it does make sense to try to order the setting thru them. If not then he should look for the best price without sacrificing customer service. Just my personal way of thinking, I prefer to do business with whomever is giving me the best value for my money from the beginning. I know many ask for price matching due to that being the norm in the big box store world we live in.
When I requested quotes on my setting from BGD & Pearlmans I was quite surprised by the significant difference in price. I graciously told BGD that I was purchasing elsewhere at a lower price. I told Pearlmans they had my business. Bgd came back wanting to know what I was quoted thru Pearlmans as perhaps they would match. I didn't feel comfortable with that so I told them no thanks. I have since purchased studs from BGD & would absolutely purchase from either vendor in the future. Just the whole price match scenario rubbed me the wrong way. Hope you don't take this the wrong way Enerchi  You know I love you  , this is just a bit of a soapbox thing for me because I own a retail store and have had this played out time & again. I try to earn loyal customers from the beginning by offering them the absolute best value for their money. It pains me to learn that someone I spent 30 minutes educating on products ran down the street and spent their money at a competitor who matched or undercut me.
I hope this does not offend everyone.
Threadjack over. Carry on folks :))

Good point, woofmama! and no offence taken! Just thought I'd throw that out there... some people like to price match, some don't. Just thought of Kenny - "people vary"!! :D

Thanks Woofmama & Enerchi for your replies.

I too love the setting, I think it will really suit my GF and that is more important than my liking it.

I have contacted both BDG & Pearlmans for info on setting cost and timing etc.

I am also waiting on some ASET & Idealscopes from Pearlmans.

I do really like the 1.09 that I posted earlier.
