Hello,

I am wondering if someone can help me make a more informed decision.

I am considering purchasing a 1930s diamond, 1.53 carat, G, SI1. The diamond is old and has a cavity/natural on the pavilion, and a tiny bruise and chip on the girdle on one edge. My concern is with the diamond's durability. There are two other stones on either side of the main stone which "protect" the diamond girdle edge (or a least I think). A portion of the diamond map is attached.

I would really appreciate your thoughts on this diamond and whether it is a sound purchase to consider.

Many thanks!

Can you post photos of the diamond/ring?

Without photos and pricing info, we can't really tell you much of anything...is the stone certed or did the seler estimate the color/clarity?

Sorry, but I can't understand the picture. Maybe you could post a real one?

The cavity has probably been there since the stone was made and you won't even be able to see it with a naked eye either. If your comfortable with that and you like the looks of it I would go for it.

You'll probably want to have some girdle rehab done in order to polish out the chip and get the girdle to be better than very thin unless you are setting it in a bezel. Very thin girdles are prone to chipping.
