Hi everyone i''m new to the forum but have been searching on researching for the past 10days about diamonds and as a clinical researcher i''m am so about numbers so i have found this site very useful for my search. I''ve met with many wholesalers here in Tampa and i might pull the trigger on this diamond but i think it might be a bad one based on the spec but naked eye good. but when i run these numbers on HCA it ranks it as a horrrible diamond? it is the old GIA report different than the new ones? why does the diamond look so eye-clean well he wanted $3200 for it but i got it down to $2800 i think that''s too much and the diamond specs doesn''t add up?
i was thinking i going through WF but i''m am so freighten about online purchasing for diamonds but i am a numbers go so if they give me all the data and it looks good i jsut don''t know?

the first thing that concerned me is that its an olf GIA report 3/4/98
GIA
round brilliance
5.99-6.04 x 3.72
.83 carats
girdle - med - slght thick
cutlet - very small
depth - 61.8
table 62%
crown % 13
pav % 45
polish - good
sym - good
VS2
H

You could land a plane on that table...I wouldn''t buy it for that reason alone...

thats what i firgured man that sets me back since i''m on a time crunch would you reccomend online? i am so axnious going that route white hall, blue nile, what would you suggest, in addittion i''ve got another seller but his diamonds are non cert, hmm

I''d recommend online regardless...better diamonds for the same money. Call GOG tomorrow and pick up one of the stones I picked out. If you also pick a simple setting they can have it to you very quickly usually.

Nor sure how fast anybody can work on a tight time schedule right now...but here''s another you might want to look at.

how long would it take them to get it to me i found a mount at a local shop. i need the ring set to go by Friday, lol. any oppinions on WF?

Whiteflash is great, but I didn't see anything in your immediate range, but if you've found something they are a great company.

It would depend greatly on the local shop as far as mounting time. I think if you call GOG tomorrow they could overnight the stone for you probably.

thanks for the input guys when i mean time crunch i mean time crunch i''m hoping to get the diamond by saturday or monday at the latest and have it in its mount by Friday to the big proposal lol.

Though here''s one a bit pricier from WF, I like at least mine better in this case from JA.

Unfortunately...Jim at JA''s been up against the clock lately at a busy time.

Based at least on feedback here...I''d call both JA & GOG, and get their statement about how long it would take them to get the diamond to you. Also, get a date where, to do it, it would have had to leave their store. Then, call them immediately (the day after?) they should have sent it, for them to have done what they said they would have done. If not...given your short time frame...you probably just don''t have an option B at that point...so you may want to hold on to whatever you''ve got, or maybe get a local option in hand, just in case, that you ARE satisfied with.

I wouldn''t have minded at all if my BF proposed with a loose stone and we took our time shopping for the setting. But calling GOG tomorrow is a good idea to see what can be done in time.

maybe i haven't really given spec i want at least 75-83 pts, si1 and up, h color and up, and very good cut/polish and up. max 3200 willing to do bank tranfer tonight, lol Anymore oppinions on the first one i have locally here with the large table 62% and 61.8% depth does it really hurt the diamond?

thanks
Tim

hi guys i found this thoughts?

http://www.whiteflash.com/round/Round-cut-diamond-1313917.htm#
No, this one is not good. Stick with the ones from Good Old Gold. If you call first thing in the morning and wire the money, you can probably have the stone on Monday. They''ll have to verify that their bank has received the wire before they''ll send it, or I guess you could put it on a credit card and forgo the wire discount. I would think you could have it on Monday. What kind of setting are you looking at?

This one that Neatfreak found at GOG is the best so far that fits your criteria. And yes, the huge table usually does not have good scintillation and can cause a fish-eye effect.

.77ct G SI1 $3153

4 stone mount tw .60ct i think the designer in Andrew meyer at least thats what to local shop told me its kind of pricey though 1700, but i''m on a time crunch so im SOL palladium mount by the way. the store i found it at was called Continental Jewel tampa FL

WF sells palladium settings....it would be easier to have them set the diamond for you if you buy from them

i would do it but that the setting is something i need to see in person before i purchase it.

Oh, well what does the setting you want look like?

help me pick do i go with the vs2 h, si1 g, i guess lower clarity with higher color or does it really matter. which diamond has the fewest inclusions in you oppion or the best diamond for the money any luck with blue nile or do they treat you like a number and if you have issues your out sourced to a call center lol?

are any of these GOG sig hearts i love their videos, lol.

ughh i can''t believe i''m making my decison in less than 6 hours, help! Thanks for your bailout help, lol, bc if i don''t propose by next sat at the latest i''m going to be in the doghouse!

I would choose the G

love the G SI1

the inclusions are eye clean.

actually, BN has pretty good customer service...

anyway, G SI1 for me.

The G is very pretty. I would pick that one.

That is also a very nice stone.

Either stone is great, and in the long run, I doubt you will regret your choice, whichever it is. However, in the short run, things like .05 ct and $350 might make a difference to some people.
