hey guys i'm not very good with idealscope images so I will defer to your superior knowledge:

https://imageshack.com/a/img924/3959/U0zMHy.jpg

It is a 1.5 carat, J, SI2, AGS ideal cut, HCA 1.4 (all excellent except spread which is v. good)
ex cut, ex polish, very good symmetry

Thanks :)

how bad is it? everything else about this stone seems excellent, its also eye clean.. dno why the idealscope is less than optimal. do you think this will be a dud?

Hi Bamx,

I get what DF is saying and it's not a dud by any stretch of the imagination, it's just not the best of the best. Out of a 10, it's an 8 somewhere around there. You say it's an AGS Ideal cut but which grading report does it have, AGS or GIA Excellent cut grade please?

With the Idealscope, it looks like there's possibly some leakage there and the optical symmetry isn't the best but if the stone is eyeclean to your standards, there's no concerning grade maker such as clarity grade based on clouds in SI2 and you don't want or need a true Superideal, this diamond might be worth shortlisting, as DF says, how picky are you....

It’s a GIA certified excellent cut but I also put its specs into https://www.diamondscreener.com/cut-estimator/ which shows it as ags ideal.

There are twinning wisps and feathers but I was told it is eye clean from the top with a twinning wisp barely visible from the side. I was assured that the inclusions did not affect the brilliance/transparency.

I think I’m happy with 8/10 as I paid 6.2k usd for it and it’s already in transit being shipped to me but I’m eager to hear your thoughts.

Thank you for taking the time to reply

Ok, I see where you got that from, it wouldn't actually get AGS0 as the polish and symmetry are EX and VG consecutively and looking at the IS too but nonetheless, it looks like a good diamond, just not up to Superideal perfection and the price was very good.

Awesome that’s roughly what I was expecting. Thank you Lorelei

You're most welcome and please post the ring once it's all done!

Be sure to inspect it in various lighting conditions when you receive it.
There is a black crystal under the table over one of one of the mains (1 o’clock in IS). It doesn’t stand out in close-up photography because the mains are obstructed (so its black on black), but in-person the mains will range from white to black depending on angle of view and lighting environment... be sure to confirm that it is sufficiently clean to your expectations, whatever they are.

Will definitely keep an eye out for this. Thank you

for anyone still following :roll the ring arrived a few days ago. Very happy with it personally but i'm pretty naive to diamonds. It seems to have good fire but beyond that I don't really know what else to look for. Here is a video of it in outdoor lighting - I would appreciate any input. Thanks in advance

Thank you :) i am indeed pleased with it and happy to know you like it too.

It does seem eye clean i.e. under regular indoor light held around 6-8 inches from my eyes. If I put a bright light on it (phone flash) and bring it in right up to my face I can see the a fairly significant feather but it doesnt touch the girdle and it doesnt bother me otherwise :)

Then that's fine! I don't mind being able to see an inclusion in a diamond as to me they're birthmarks and a reminder of everything the diamond had to go through to get to you. Plus, if you have to leave your ring to be worked on, you'll be able to recognise your stone.

I think it's beautiful and I love that classic setting you chose too, you did great!
