Just purchased this pretty little yellow zircon from Jeff Davies. I need ideas for a ring setting. What do you think? Any ideas?

Hi Marieni. I think that you have a lovely stone! I am sure that is sparkles because of the cut and the delicate yellow color is very pleasing.

A piece of advice that I am sure many other members here will echo. First, zircons are known be a little on the fragile side. Because of that and the fact that you want to set the stone in a ring, you will want to pick a setting that offers some extra protection to the stone. For example, the setting should be low/have a low profile and you might want to consider a halo, bezel, or semi-bezel type of setting. These types of settings will offer a bit more protection for your stone. However, be aware of the fact that bezel set stones tend to look a little smaller.

In terms of colors, I think that your stone would look great in yellow gold or in a setting where the band is in white gold and only the prongs are in yellow gold. I also think that having blue side stones would really make the yellow pop.

I have a few questions for you:
1) Do you want to emphasize the stone's yellow color?
2) Do you want a setting that includes other stones of some kind (like a halo or side stones)?

I am really open to all suggestions. I like yellow gold, but would the yellow in yellow make the stone "disappear"? Maybe the white setting with gold prongs? I thought about doing a halo. I don't currently have any rings with a halo. The blue side stones are an interesting idea. Does anyone out there have that color combo? I'm just brainstorming at the moment.

What a gorgeous stone!! I am sure it will pop. I personally love zircons. Do you prefer modern, classic or vintage style rings? And do you have any inspiration rings?

I lean toward classic or vintage. I don't have any inspiration piece; I bought the stone on a whim because I loved the color and I don't have any yellow gemstones.

And your budget?
I can recommend David Klass because of his excellent quality for a reasonable price.

Some inspiration rings with bezels/ halos:

One of my few non-halo rings is a golden zircon. I have it set in yellow gold and I don't think it makes the stone disappear.

I don't have a very big budget. I was hoping to find something in the $250-$500 range. I would even consider a nice sterling silver setting. What would be a reasonable amount to spend on a setting? Am I being unrealistic? Maybe I need to save my pennies a little longer. The zircon wasn't very expensive, so I don't know if it makes sense to put it in an expensive setting. This is only my 3rd ring, so I'm still learning as I go.

That's a really nice stone. I love zircons since they are so sparkly and come in so many colors. I wanted something simple so had mine set with fishtail prongs to protect it.

I think whether your budget is realistic depends on what you are expecting/if you are set on a halo or using diamonds in the setting. From some experiences with David Klass I think he's an excellent choice, but his settings would likely run between 500-1,000 depending on whether it is a halo vs. a more plain setting. Another choice if you would rather stay at a lower price point is My Diamond Zone (MDZ) on Ebay. I (and others here) have had good luck with them and their prices are closer to what you originally wanted.

Here are three options from eBay (there are of course many more) that I particularly like and are all under $500. I'm not sure how big your zircon is--sorry if I missed it, but I also know they are willing to modify settings to fit your stone for a fairly reasonable price.
