Help me spot feather characteristics in this diamond

Hi there,

I am looking to buy a round ~0.5 carat diamond to sit in a simple yellow gold setting.

My budget is fairly tight so I am considering a considering a J coloured diamond given it will be set in a yellow gold ring.

I have come across this diamond on Blue Nile which appears to look very clean on first glance

The report states there are Feather and Crystal characteristics but I cant really seem to spot them. I noticed what may be a slight imperfection on the right side. Could this be the feather the report refers to or am I missing anything obvious?



Aside from this does this look a fairly clean good value diamond?

Not ignoring your questions about the clarity concerns, but looking at the proportions of the stone would you be open to a different stone?

58 table, 61.9 depth, 34.5 crown, 41.2 pavilion & 75 LGF

That pavilion is giving me concern. At 41.2 things can start to go bad really fast. And if you aren't aware, the crown & pavilion angles reported on the GIA report is a single value that is based on the rounding & averaging of 8 individual values.

41.2 is a slippery slope and with the rounding/averaging I am almost certain you will creep over which will introduce oddities in the faceting of your stone that will make it leak light, etc.

I'd like to try to find you a stone with better proportions.

Based on the BN link, am I correct to understand you are based in the UK and would like to do business with someone that has VAT included and/or easy returns in that region?

Thanks for the speedy reply and great information. Yes I am based in the UK so ideally would like to buy from Blue Nile due to the inclusion of VAT and easier returns.

Max budget for the round diamond would be around £1000.

Regarding colour I think J or above (as the band is going to be yellow Gold J should be OK from what I have read and would allow the budget to be spent on a better cut).

Size ~0.5+ (max 0.7)

We want it to be as close to eye clean as possible but it is not super important for it to hold up perfectly under a microscope). SI2 or above I guess?
