Hey everybody--
I'm about to buy a loose diamond that I will eventually put in a platinum surprise diamond engagement ring. However, I have a few questions first.
I'll start with all the details...
.74 CT Ideal cut, G, VS2,
5.85x5.89x3.59,
61.2%Depth, 56%Table
md-slthk girdle, no culet, no fluor
id polish, id symm, AGS cert
$2997 (not including setting)
I want to know if this is a good deal. I am a college student so cash is limited and I've obviously never have done this before, but I have been looking for the last year and a half--seriously. I also would like to know if a "G" colored diamond will look yellow when set in a platinum ring.
I was planning on buying the diamond loose online and then going to a local jeweler and having them put it in a setting. I know that I should bring the diamond with the certificate in to get it appraised to verify the stone. But do places appraise diamonds only if they are loose or can it be set in a ring?
Any other info would be highly appreciated!!! I know that obviously you all can't give me an exact answer since I'm only giving you the specs of the diamond, but I'll take anything you got!
Thanks again,
Greg
