Hello All,

Would love your help with these diamonds, please let me know which one you think are beautiful or not.

4. 4.75 HSI1

Do you have a closer video of #2? I can't say one way or another if I see CVD strain in the current video.

Disregarding #2 for now, I pick #4. It looks beautiful in the video. I see strain in the video for #1. #3's pavilion angle is too shallow. You want to keep all the pavilion mains above 40.45 to avoid obstruction, and with a 40.5 average pavilion, it's likely that one or more mains will be ≤40.45.

And a bonus for #4: The HCA says it's within FIC range. I haven't come across an FIC in a while, so that is pretty cool! It'll be a firecracker!

It's possible it wouldn't affect brilliance or be visible to the naked eye, but it may not be mind-clean enough for you since you know it's there. My vote is still for #4.

I can't see any straining. Often times it requires a microscope to see. I agree with @Kim N , that 1, 2, and 4 look nice!

@DejaWiz will likely be along to offer some HPHT diamonds, which is good at finding. Where are you shopping?

Thank you, now i just need to make sure they stones don't look grey or brown in real life since they are CVDs.

I am shopping in NY!

I think you are right, i think it would bother me... I will go check #4 in real life and hopefully the color will be beautiful!

Sounds good! I love how it looks in the video so hopefully it checks out. Come back and let us know how it goes. We can also help you look for other stones if you give a budget range.

Thank you! I will, I'm seeing the stone next Wed, I will be checking out a store tomorrow and will post more pictures. My budget is around 20-25k.

These should all lean fiery due to the combinations of PA and CA plus they have nice crown heights >=15%.

Ask for ASET or IdealScope images to check for light leakage, especially for the diamonds with CAs above 35°. If that 5ct beast checks out and you don't mind the CVD color tinting, then go for it since it has the biggest spread...some nice bragging rights to say that you've got a fiver!

As an alternative, see if you can negotiate a deal with this cutter/seller and have them cut you a colorless D-E VVS2-VS1 close to the specs (proportions and angles) of the 4.43 but at the 5ct weight. Worse they can tell you is no.

What does CVD color tinting usually look like? (i know some look brown or gray), also if the cuts are heart and arrows do they still have light leakage? TIA

It will look exactly like that: slight tint of brownish, brownish-pink, or grayish.

H&A designation on the report does not guarantee proper light return and performance because there is no industry standard, so the lab gets to determine their own criteria. The only way to ensure actual H&A and proper light return is by analyzing the advanced images.

Thank you, is the 5 carat one the only one u think with the tint? or do any other from the list look tinted?

CVD with PGT is an indicator that it will have some amount of striations and tinting, especially in the F or worse color grades. Reason being is that the rough usually comes from a cheated growth process (intentionally sped up) in order to crank out the diamond rough in high volumes.

Here's an article that gives a synopsis (with some market-speak thrown in):
