Hi everyone,

As many others around here I am asking for your help in choosing the stone. I have a very special lady that I want to propose to.
I have picked a beautiful ring for her to be custom made, and now need to get a diamond. The jewler has offered these based on my budget (around $2500 CAD for the stone):

ROUND BRILLIANT
0.62 CT.
F
SI1
EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT 5.41 - 5.40 x 3.40mm
$2800 CAD

ROUND BRILLIANT
0.62 CT.
G
SI1
IDEAL
$2700 CAD

Here is the photo of the diamonds and their specifications:

After looking on Blue Nile I get a sense that these quoted prices are very high. Could you please help me out?

I am looking for a SI1 or higher H or G colour (or higher), round ideal cut, 0.60 carat or higher. I am in Canada and would prefer a Canadian stone, but I'm not 100% set on that.

I really want to make this ring special but I don't like being taken advantage of, so let me know what you think.

Thank you so much!

If Canadian is important to you, you should call some of the PS vendors and tell them your specifications and that you want Canadian. There is no function for Canadian stones on the PS database.

I am also interested in non-canadian diamonds.

I noticed that the diamonds the jeweller offered are EGL certified, which is another no-no according to this discussion:

and

So it looks like I should avoid the ones that were offered.

Where does it say it is Canadian?

Oh, yes, I see. Very cool.

I just bought a diamond in that size range from whifteflash (during the glitch period) at a good price, But I was actually looking into a 0.6, E, SI1 diamond at goodoldgold.com and would have probably ended up buying ti if it hadn't been for the glitch.

here it is: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9789/

And here it is in a video I had them shoot for me to see it (middle): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyBrQre1IZA

For an SI1, it has phenomenal clarity, vendor told me she could see the inclusion in the VS2 in the video faster than in this one. I had negociated the price by email down to 2195 (175$ off the wire price). See if you can try to get the same deal

hope this helps !
