Hi all,

I know a lot of people on here have really gorgeous rings! I am afraid my budget is a lot lower than most, and I am looking for a ring that looks exactly like this, but with a budget of 1000 dollars (which includes a diamond between 0.3 and 0.4)

http://www.netaya.com/14kwhgo12cad.html

I know this may be hard, but I am willing to go up to an H for color, and a SI1 if its eye clean.

Anyone know where I can find this gorgeous ring with my pricerange? I love the simplicity and thinness of the band. And its not pave so i dont have to worry about the diamonds coming out....

any help greatly appreciated!

Here''s the best I can do with a quick search:

these look great, only I am looking for something that isnt pave and still has a thin band. i never thought finding a simple setting would be so hard....

thanks for everyone''s suggestions but i would love to see more!

The Excel Diamonds link that Skippy posted is a VERY close match to your original picture. I think you''re getting caught up with the label "pave".

the thing with pave is, is that i am really worried about the diamonds falling out. i am definitely someone who doesnt own expensive jewelery so i want this to be lasting me a lifetime. im not super cautious about the jewelry i wear now, and i am not SUPER active, although I definitely am worried about diamonds coming out of a pave setting...

any other suggestions?

I''m sorry, I''m not trying to be difficult, but you posted a picture of a ring that has several small stones and said you wanted one exactly like it, but then when shown pictures of similar rings, you said you didn''t want them because you''re afraid of losing a small stone? As I said earlier, the Excel Diamond ring linked to above is almost a dead ringer for what you wanted. The only difference is that the written paragraph on your example ring doesn''t use the word "pave", but the others do. I have a pave wedding band with very small diamonds. As long as you keep up with routine maintenance and have your piece insured, pave shouldn''t be a worry.

Hi Jem,

I''m sorry but I have to agree with sonnyjane that you seem to have gotten caught up on the term pave and it''s meaning/implications.
Both the original setting you linked to and the Excel diamonds one are actually shared prong setting - imo the Excel one is mis-named as pave.
So don''t get too caught up on names/descriptions and look at the actual design / workmanship / price.

Also, losing a stone at some point isn''t really a big deal- even if you don''t plan on buying insurance, I understand jewellers will charge you very little to replace a side stone of the size we are talking and it''s not uncommon. (however I do recommend insurance).

As mentioned above, the Excel setting is definitely a very close match to your original link, and just over $600 for 14k (would recommend spending the extra $46 to upgrade to 18k for an ering though).
If you can then put $400-$500 towards the diamond (do shop around for the best combo of price and quality for your budget), I''m sure you could create a very lovely ring just like the one you posted

Here is a side by side comparison to help:

Thanks for making that side-by-side comparison. As I said earlier, they really are very similar!

Jem, Sounds like your budget is very tight, so every extra expense matters. Just a caution. If you do not buy the diamond and setting from the same vendor, you have to add the cost of setting the stone, shipping/postal insurance (if the stone supplier is not willing to send your stone to the setting supplier directly), and insurance (that you may want to purchase for insuring the diamond while it is being set). Of course, if you buy the diamond and setting from the same vendor, you need not worry about these extra expenses and arangement.

This not exactly the same setting, but it is not pave. It''s slightly over budget, but there is a PS discount (I think).

How about this one? I have this setting and I really like it. It's well made.

It's priced at $347 in 18K gold and you could try to make an offer at 300 maybe? That would leave you $700 for the diamond!

Here are two pictures so you can see what it looks like in rl (mine is 14k gold though)...

Hope that helps!

This would be perfect! It''s beautiful, and what a price..

That ebay setting is very pretty. And I''ve heard great things about american set (the vendor). If you search that I believe there are a few posts of some beautiful rings people have gotten from there and at amazing prices.

wow! thanks for all your advice! and thanks for bringing me to reality about my hangups about pave!

anyway, I definitely think that the American set setting is totally my style. simple and feminine.

I tried to find out more info about them, and havent found anything bad. I am currently in Japan though. I am wondering, was it difficult to buy the diamond from a different vendor and then having it set into the setting? what is easier? to send the setting to the diamond company, or the diamond company to the setting company?

what do you think of this diamond:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B002KMIXJQ/ref=pd_luc_mri?_encoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance

with this diamond setting:

this is for a budget of 1000 dollars so i am trying to leave some money there for shipping....

I am a diamond novice so any info would be great! if you have better suggestions for the diamond and/or setting, that would be great!

Definitely love the american setting and I know they are of good quality, however the diamond, please buy from one of the pS vendors as you can find some very nice diamond in your price range, and if you wanted to upgrade later, that would be an option as well.

Good luck! You've got some really savvy people helping you here - I didn't think it could be done! :)
