Hi Guys,
Been following this forum for about a month trying to get educated. Seems like the more I know about diamonds, the less I know about diamonds. I do know that my SO loves Square diamonds. We have particualarly been looking at Cushions/ Princess but she is possibly open to other square cuts.
The total budget is about ~10K, this includes the setting.
The setting we found is by Jeff Cooper for $2,800 and the website we were looking at offers about $1K off the diamond when we buy this particular setting, which she happens to really like.
This is where the trouble begins. The ideal diamond is 1.5 carat, G, VS2, and has to have an amazing cut. However, this criteria seems 30-40% over the budget.
We have been looking at only GIA/AGS diamonds as we have read that EGL is not reputable. Can EGL USA be trusted in their grading-- there is some mixed commentary regarding this.
So now we need some creative ideas.
Should we be looking at H-I-J diamonds with flourecense? We both seem to like whiter diamonds in general. What are some tips to find diamonds that appear larger/ whiter face-up?
Should we look at SI1 diamonds and call the dealers to confirm they are eye-clean? How can we trust that when so many diamonds are drop-shipped?
Lastly, if you were me with 10K budget (roughly 8K) for diamond-- WHAT WOULD YOU BUY TODAY?
