Hi guys,

Well, I finally decided on the diamond and setting but I'm having difficulties finding a band for it that would look good. It has come so far that I'm thinking about switching the setting to a regular solitaire setting. This is the current setting I'm going for.

Please help me find a matching band for me! Thanks!

I wouldn't change the setting - that's stunning. What about a custom-made wedding ring to fit around the setting and set with baguettes?

PS Baguettes set east-west - I'll see what pictures I find.

This is what I envisioned - channel set baguettes but you could have it custom-made with a curve to sit around the engagement ring. It wouldn''t have to have diamonds going 360 degrees if you didn''t want - could just match the spread of the diamonds in the e ring. This is where it came from: http://www.signedpieces.com/item.cfm?item_id=160

You could always wear your wedding band on your right hand & let that beautiful ring on your left hand speak for itself!

Don''t you dare change that setting! You penalise a thing so beautifull, just because a wedding band can''t match it.

Have fun trying though.

I think this calls for a large baguette to cover the length of the setting head, then step down to princess cuts chanel set in a 1/2 et.

What were you planning on changing that too?

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have to look into the channel band.

A few things I wanted to change on the main setting is that I want to lower the diamonds a little bit (make the parallel gaps a little smaller). My GF is small so the as is setting might stick out too much for her. Also, I don''t like the blockish prongs so those are changed to the smaller pointed one.

You are talking about an entirely different ring. To me it a shame to dissmantle such a well designed ring. The most you could do is lower the centre stone by 1mm, as that is all the metal around the girdle will allow. The prong tip could be fined down a little, but not to a point with the current prong shape, and you would make the setting (being quite tall) far less secure, if they attempt too much.

I would have the setting a little lower as my customers, not American, always insist on keeping it low, but in this design I would not say the setting is too high. I know you must get what you want, but I don''t think there is much point trying make it as low as possible. My reasons are as follow:

A new ring could be lower. It would mean the side stones sit fit further appart, or else the centre stone overshadows the side stones, which is not a viable consideration if they are closer to paralel. You would need round prongs for round grains. The lights (the windows under the stones) are larger then usual, but in making the diamond tables closer to parralel this feature would have to stay. It might mean smaller lights under the centre stone.

You need to be aware that if the stones are set wider and if your GF is small the stones will sit right across her finger. This mean that as the band tapers up to the setting, the thicker part is actually placed between her fingers. To avoid this, the taper would have to be changed, or else the ring will be uncomfortable when her fingers are closed.

These are the practical things about the design possibilities. I really like the job you have.

For what it is worth. The nicest ring I have ever made (a simple elegant princess cut), came back from the customer for an exchange. They changed it for something very typical and they were very happy. That the important thing.
