I prefer #1. It has a better cut and it's a little bigger too. Just find out more about the cloud. I SURELY hope it isn't a cloud throughout the stone... I suggest ya to give them a call...

I called bluenile about this before. They said the cloud is a cluster of pinpoints.

Anyone else care to chime in? Your help is greatly appreciated. Additional note, the local jeweler is willing to come down to 5500 + tax if paying by check.

I'd also select #1, I think.

You didn't mention what the HCA scores were, and #1 doesn't give the angles for me to check it, but I'm taking your word that the score was stronger.

Also, it's a bit larger (carat weight and diameter). They both sound good, and seems to be an excellent price.

Good luck!

Thanks aljdewey! The HCA score for diamond A was 1.6 and diamond B was 2.7. The angles for diamond A were mentioned in the Sarin Specs. Crown was 34.6' and Pavil was 40.9'.

Hi Jack!

I ran the HCA and Price Stats on both diamonds.

Blue Nile Diamond: 1.6 TIC, Ex/Ex/Vg/Vg. Asking price $6065, PS Price Stats comp $5455 avg.

Local Diamond: 2.7, Vg/Vg/Vg/Vg, Recommended Buy if the price is right. Asking price $5995 + tax, PS Price Stats comp $5101 avg.

While the BN diamond looks better on the HCA and price, the inclusions are a concern to me. I would definitely have a professional evaluate it prior to purchase or within the refund period.

I also did a search for comparable diamonds available and came up with some interesting candidates to consider. All are F, SI1 diamonds.

White Flash #1634309, 1.03 ct, Id/Id, $5349
Dirt Cheap Diamonds, #1684631 1.02 ct, Id/Id, $5281
Affordable Diamonds on Line, #1431416 1.03 ct, Id/Id, $5384
USA Certed #1463398, 1.08 ct, Id/Id, H&A inscribed, $5423
Good Old Gold has a 0.998 ct, H&A for $6086

There are 4 comparable candidates and one SUPER IDEAL cut to consider that are all excellently priced. Unless the diamond you saw locally SPOKE to you, I'd continue the search. There are other comparable diamonds available from very reputable dealers. White Flash offers life-time upgrades at 100% of the purchase price on every diamond they sell. GOG has life-time upgrades as well. DCD offers 5 years trade up at 80% of the purchase price. Lots of very good options with GREAT vendors!
