I don't have a high budget. Around 5k. Browsing the different websites I have found some really nice rings. However this one caught my attention.

http://www.solomonbrothers.com/jewelry_156288

The future wife likes halo, pave, and stones on the side design on her rings. This one seems to fit perfectly with everything she wanted. I wanted to know if this is a good deal? Or someone point me to another similar ring.

Also help me find a center diamond. This leaves me with 2.5k to find a good center diamond for it. HELP please.

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3034164.htm beautiful cut stone for rb....Marquis are nice and will look larger but as an owner Marquis over time sometimes points break and arent as long term "in vogue" as RB which are always current in style.

If you go with this style you still have to consider the size of the diamond or gemstone that you can afford. You will have pretty amazing luck with $3,000 shopping for a colored gemstone.

I recommend Gem Shopping network, you can live stream online and shop from a computer if not on TV. My future fiance and I bought a 2.23ct pink tourmaline from them for $750 so just imagine what you could get? :) Happy shopping!

I am sorry gem stones are beautful and a nice alternative but he has a nice budget for a ideal cut diamonds. Just my opinion but diamonds are more the norm for engagement rings. HIs GF has shown interest in RB or marquis cut.....

In diamonds you get what you pay for. PS has amazing vendors and these are the ones you should consider if you are going to by on line. The web sites you are showing us are online department stores without quality stones. Any of the PS vendors White flash , Brian Gavin, Good old Gold ERD, IRD will all work with you and your budget to find the best quality stone as close to the size you want within your budget. Just finding random stones on random sites will only fustrate you, which it seems to have done already.

If it were my husband I would have him call Good old gold or Brian Gavin or Whiteflash and tell them what you want and let them hand select something .They all have some type of upgrade policy and most have amazing return policies. Put yourself in their hands and let them help you.

I been to those sites. But they didn't have what I was looking. Also their web site design is bad. Hard to find the settings I was looking for. Or they didn't have it.

Yes I"m looking at all the perks, and want to get the best value. Union Diamond seems to be pretty good. My mind isn't set, but free cruise, and comes with band. Seems hard to beat. I'm comparing all the diamonds across all the sites listed here as well as those posted by users.

This is similar to the first link you posted:

http://www.ritani.com/engagement-ri...iamond-band-engagement-ring-in-palladium/4812

And just an example of what you could put in the center (I'd get the image from Ritani first though, to make sure it's eye-clean, and ask about that feather): http://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-0-69-Carat-G-color-AGSL-certified/D-MJ0J1Q

Another example- going with AGS0 since I don't know that Ritani supplies IS images: http://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-0-71-Carat-I-color-AGSL-certified/D-V155F6

Very nice. I have not seen this site. But this looks like a very good ring that she will enjoy. Thank you e.b

This thread may be useful to get an idea of the type of settings available and what can be done with your budget and setting requirements..hope you don't mind me linking this smiligan!.. I don't mind at all. :)

OP - I purchase my SO a Ritani setting and the quality is top notch. Their customer service is also excellent. I can't speak to the quality of their diamonds, as I purchased mine through Pearlman's, but I will say that they do not offer IS/ASET.

This might be an option if she wants a marquise - http://www.ritani.com/engagement-rings/halo-micropave-diamond-band-engagement-ring-in-palladium/4910

If you'd rather go with a round, I would suggest using ID Jewlery and getting a Gabriel NY setting. I've heard great things about them and I'm pretty sure that they could find you a great deal on a diamond.

If you do go with Gabriel NY, these are a few of the settings I'd choose:

http://www.gabrielny.com/engaged/style/ER7479W44JJ

http://www.gabrielny.com/engaged/style/ER6981W44JJ

http://www.gabrielny.com/engaged/style/ER6554W44JJ

They literally have tons of settings to choose from, so you can search their website for more. Also, IDJ will take 20% off of the list price on the website (as will other vendors such as GOG).

What shape center does she like?

you cant judge a marquise by the numbers. You need to see photos as it could have a bowtie. It could be mushy, or have dead tips.

heres one that has potential. Ive been combing over these JA marquise a lot, as a friend of mine was looking for some. This seems like the nicest one still available now.

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/marquise-cut/0.80-carat-e-color-si1-clarity-sku-195861

they have lots of settings in your budget. this one looks quite similar to the above photo, and is hand made.

I look up the GIA report of a possible diamond that I wanted. It said it was issued in 2010. It's 2014. Should I be worried if a diamond has been sitting in stock for a very long time? Probably been damaged or something?
