Hello everyone! I have been admiring many of the ladies' OEC in this forum and now it's my turn. My big milestone birthday is coming up and my husband has generously given me a budget of $20K to spend. I would love to own an OEC as they are so unique and love the old world charm. Ok, let's be honest, a woman likes her diamond big so I would like to maximize the size but not compromising on the quality of the diamond. So here are my requirements:

Size: as big as my budget can get
Color: I, J, K
Clarity: VS1 to SI1(only if it's really eye clean at 12 inches)
Culet: small to medium

I know with OECs you have to be able to see them in person. I have looked at what is available to me in my local area but they are all duds. I would like for the OEC 'experts' in this forum to make suggestions for potential purchase. I'm not working with any vendor yet but that will be determined based on the list I get here.

I appreciate everyone's help. Thanks!

There are a few lovelies available right now, with GOG.
This one is a few k out of reach, but I have to show it to you :naughty: He found this during the search for my stone, and I can't believe the price for such a perfect OEC! I wish I could have purchased two!  http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9503/

and the youtube video of it pumping out fireworks: http://youtu.be/5iJvva6kSW8

Here's a video showing smaller ones, and there's a GORGEOUS one here, too. I wonder if it's in budget? You gotta ask them that.

How about this from OWD?

http://oldworlddiamonds.com/detail.php?ID=2587&SHAPE=EU

Their links don't always work for me, so here's the info. so you can find it by sorting:

Stock #: OWA30368
Carat Weight: 2.52
Color: K
Clarity: SI1
Measure: 8.59*8.43*5.49
Cert: EGLLA
Depth: 64.5
Table: 45
Polish: Good
Symetry: Good
Girdle: m
Flourescence: N/A
Culet: Medium
Price: 17,199.00

Edited to add this from Ruby Lane, the photos aren't the best so I'd have our OEC experts take a look since it's not a certificate I am familiar with, but it's 3+ carats!! http://www.rubylane.com/item/812742-DR-3x2e04/1900-Edwardian-3-04ct-European Same with this one: http://www.rubylane.com/item/812742-DR-3x2e07/1910-Edwardian-3-07ct-European (oh, these settings are killing me, too!).

Thanks everyone for your help.

Davi: I love this diamond but my heart is set on an OEC. I love the chunky faceting and this one reminds me of an MRB

Madelise: GOG has awesome inventory but I find their prices high for me but the stones are GORGEOUS. That 3.20 is  and it's on my list.

Rubybeth: OWD has great inventory too but I wished they had more pictures. I contacted OWD but they won't be able to get back to me until next week. The first link that you included from Ruby Lane...it looks like it has 'fish eye'? I hope the experts chime in because I'd like to hear what they have to say about the given diamonds so far.

The 3.04ct rubylane oec has very messy center facets. It doesn't quite look like a fish eye, but it's very unattractive in the center.

The 3.07ct rubylane looks nice, but it's likely more tinted than K-L. That vendor as an ebay store as well... not sure if prices are cheaper on ebay or not. If you're interested, you might want to search for that seller.

Have you seen the 3.20 OEC I posted in my SMTB thread from my visit to H. Moradi?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251122755573?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
The ebay ad says they're taking offers, so you can always offer $20k and see if they'll accept?

It's a bit warmer than what you're looking for, though. Is the color range you posted true colors, or EGL colors?

(and I want to point out that GOG being "pricey" for a retail vendor isn't exactly true. I have helped a few friends now, and the prices he gave them for stones that were also listed on OWD's inventory is about the same. If you go retail, I def recommend him and his millions of videos in different lighting.)

The colors I mentioned are EGL colors.

oo. do you think that might be a good option? if I had 20k, that's what I'd buy
almost 3 and a quarter carat OEC for 20k..   :lickout: :lickout: :lickout:
I literally made half my weekender vacation devoted to visiting it, lol!

Since you saw the 3.2 at the store (H Moradi right?), how do you compare it to the one from GOG. The video was very helpful in seeing the diamond in different lighting. The pics for the one from Moradi is difficult to assess performance.

Yeah, sorry about that :knockout: I was taking photos on my iPhone, and they aren't the best.. since I now have a 2 generation older iPhone! Gasp! hehe

I have a video of it under the jewelry store lighting (where it gets darker but shows more of its fire.. I think GOG calls it "Spot lighting"?), but it got deleted since I'm not allowed to post personal videos on PS. I'm sure you can contact them for more information? I wouldn't be able to compare it apples-to-apples since it didn't get all the different tests and whatnot that GOG does. It's a good performer, IMO, no fish eye and no nailhead, which is the most common no-no's in old cuts.. but that GOG one has fireworks!

Bump for more suggestions/potential candidates.
