Hi everyone,

I received my beginner (10x) ideal scope with a CZ calibration stone. I tried to take a picture of the stone to see what the results look like. I'm new at this so please forgive my ignorance and maybe I'm doing something wrong but this doesn't look similar to pictures of a stone with excellent light return. Since I doubt the issue is with the calibration stone I figure it's something I'm not doing correctly? Or maybe I'm just terrible at deciphering the picture

Did you get the light box as well?

Hi christina! Yes I did get the light box and this picture was taken with it.

Can anyone else chime in? I've seen many who are good at deciphering ideal-scope images :D

when test comes to crunch, you can see that most people here don't know any better than you do.

The issue lies in the CZ stone. It isn't cut to the best ideal proportions that you see in the idealscope charts.

Thats interesting Songo, yet you continue to visit this forum asking questions and seeking advice and educating yourself. I would have happily responded to the OP had I not been caring for a sick child. This is a consumer forum, consumers helping consumers, none of us claim to be experts. Who knows why people choose specific threads to click on, this one may have fallen off the first page, others may have assumed that the question had been answered, it may have been a slow day, who knows? But I'm sure that the lack of response had little to do with this forums inability to answer the question.

I think it looks like a poorly lit image, which is odd considering you are using a light box. But if you are curious about the slightly different patterning, the image is simply showing that the CZ is cut slightly differently from a well cut modern round diamond.

The description of the Beginner Scope says it is a 6x magnification. The amount of light entering the stone looks to be less than optimal for some reason. Also, the image that I can see, gives me some doubt that particular CZ is totally up to the job. Please advise your ideal-Scope order number and we can quickly ship off a fresh CZ, which I will personally check before shipping. We need to be sure you have an ideally cut sample...... Occasionally a less than well cut CZ sneeks into the mix of these sample CZ's

Note: I did not insert the hyperlink in the text wording. This is not my doing.

I took my ideal-scope with me to look at some real diamonds today and could tell immediately the issue is with the CZ stone as some of you mentioned. Unfortunately my light box died on me which is weird considering I just replaced the batteries (it came in the mail with dead batteries). I don't think the batteries drain that fast but we'll see.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for your input! It is very much appreciated.

Strange, we put fresh batteries in each Ideal-Light at the time they are shipped and verify they work before shipping them out. Surely, it is not for the great profit involved, but far more to help consumers to buy a better diamond product.
