i bought this halo setting to put a family diamond in and propose to my gf. I had no idea what I was doing and still really don’t know anything about rings, settings, etc. I thought it looked good in the store and i think it still looks good when viewing directly from the top or directly from the side. However when viewing from certain angles, there is a gap from all sides, and I’m wondering if the setting is too big for this size diamond (it’s a 1.3 ct).
It’s a square halo setting with a round cut diamond so I assume it’s natural To have some type of gap (since a round peg doesn’t fit perfectly in a square hole) but should it be this noticeable? Pics from diff angles are attached. Diamond is a 1.3 carat round cut. Thanks so much in advance!!

It doesn't look too small for the halo, rather, there is a huge air line between the diamond and the halo. If the diamond were to be set significantly lower in the prongs, I believe it would look fine.

No, the diamond size is fine for the halo. What the problem is is that the centre diamond is set up too high.
The centre diamond needs to be “lowered down” at least 1mm, maybe 2mm.
It’s fine to have a small gap, between the diamond and the halo as that allows light to come in from the side but as it is currently set it is just a fraction too high up.
It’s an easy fix so don’t worry,

Ok that’s really good news! When I lower the stone in the setting is that going to make the prongs protrude out past the top of the diamond?

No, they will make the prongs shorter.
