DD - I was out running errands today and thinking about your upgrade. You know you''re a PSer when...
31.gif
Anyway, I''m sure you''ve already thought of this, but what if you got a 1.25 G SI1 set in a 3-stone with 0.30 G-H stones which are also upgradeable? Then, if at some point in the future (i.e. 10 years from now or when you feel more financial established and comfortable), you can upgrade both the center and side stones to what you really want. I''m sure this isn''t a new idea to you, but it just occurred to me that you could get upgradable side stones and then you wouldn''t have "wasted" any $ if/when you want to upgrade again to a bigger 3-stone (if that is your first love).

BTW, I like the 3-stone in the pic above. Do you know the stats on it?

Well how sweet to think of my upgrade while you are out! You are indeed a true PSer. I am glad that someone other than me and my dog care about my upgrade

The only issue with that is that many/most vendors will not accept 3 stones towards a single upgrade. But I suppose it cannot hurt to ask!

Something I am considering too is a J color center stone with H/I melee sides in my ideal size (1.6ct center and .50ctw sides) and then upgrading color later so the setting is not wasted

And maybe the color would not matter to me when set like that anyways? Honestly, the whole color thing is such a silly mind game. No one I know notices or cares a hoot about color. Why should I? It is all "mind clean" mumbo jumbo.

re: the above pic. The side stones are each .25ct which leads me to think the center is about 1ct... the BGD ring in the link is actually a 1.5ct with .30s and I like the proportions even more like that. BIG center and little sides lookes best to me.

I like your idea of the 1.60 J with .05ctw sides. The side stones will probably detract you from the color of the J. Also, when I was thinking of the upgradable 3-stone idea, I was thinking you could upgrade each of the 3 stones for larger versions when you were ready. But I think I might like your other idea better with the J center stone in a larger size.

This is my thinking too, that in a setting the pavilion is less noticable... and the huge amount of bling could blind me anyways

If I go the J route I will probably see about having BGD send me the stone loose first so I really know what I am getting into. It will be a little bit of a hassel with customs, but worth it I think to see the diamond in person. Then I will *know* how I feel about that particular stone and if I do not like it, I can go for a smaller I color or drop under the 1.5 mark and go for a G/H color as originally planned.

I would actually not increase the sixe of the side stone in future anyways. I like em little with a big center, so .50ctw would be what I would use with a 1.6ct anyways.

Dreamer--I am curious as to what 3 stone setting you are looking at going with...I''ve been looking at BGD for my upgrade, to put a 1.2 in the middle and .30''s on the sides but don''t know which kind of setting I want to use lol! I like to hear what other people are thinking about doing :)
Hey! Well I have tried on many different three-stone settings and the winner for me by far is the style where the sides are much smaller than the center and the center is set a little higher than the sides, which tuck under. The setting at BGD that is like this is this one: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/home/ring-details/?product_id=5448 Whiteflash has a similar style that I attached so you can see how the ring looks face on. The three prongs on the sides also make them look a little like pears, and the overlap with the center stone makes them look a little like half moons. Anyways, I found this design was aweseom on my hand and actually had really good finger presence compared to a more typical three stone ring. The center really stands out in this design. I would do .25ct sides if I chose this design.

redfaerythinker recently got an upgrade that has a similar style too, but it is a trellis: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/the-solution-for-dss.140099/
Yes, that''s the ring I''ve been looking at too! I love love love it! Thanks for posting the face on pic, it helps bc on the BGD website you can''t see how it looks face on
