Been researching for awhile but still so much to learn. Can someone help me interpret this report? Do the proportions/% seem ok? Any help deeply appreciated!
Proportions look great and should lean slightly towards brilliance.
Any pictures/videos of it?
Thank you for your feedback!! Sorry excuse my ignorance but what does lean slightly toward brilliance mean? So much to learn no pics or videos yet. The stone is from art of jewels but they mentioned the diamond is in the process of being returned after 2 months due to the purchaser trading it in. Any red flags with this?
If you have any recs for 1.5 carat lab from James Allen or anywhere on the credible internet I would very greatly appreciate your expertise.
Thanks for explaining! Good to knowDue to the slightly shallower crown angle of 34.1 and the 14.5% crown height, it'll likely have an affinity to show more white light return (brilliance) than dispersion (fire). Not saying the fire won't be there, it just may not be as much if the crown angle were a bit steeper around 35°.
Just depends on what kind of performance personality you are after.
What is your budget?
Thanks for explaining! Good to know
Budget for stone only is 3500 or less for 1.3-1.5 carat
That's a terrific budget! Take a look at this one.

Whoops, I meant $3500 including setting. So I guess that puts me at $2500 or under for a stone. I’m looking for something with maximum sparkle and of course eye clean. I’m color sensitive and have found that I is a little warmer than I like. I have not seen a G or H though. I’m willing to compromise color a little bit and I guess clarity is long as it’s eye clean?
Super grateful for your help and recs. I think I would prefer James Allen just due to a past experience with Art of jewels. Thanks!!
I know you put one on hold already, but if you're willing to give TAoJ another chance, they have a Valentine's Day coupon for 5% off a lab diamond and 15% off a setting.
The 1.53 is a GCAL 8x top-performing stone which would get you a 7.4mm spread and still leave you with funds for the setting.
I would be inclined to give the same advice.
Some great positives, here:
1. Bigger spread
2. Beautiful 40.6/34.5/56 proportions
3. HPHT E VS1
4. GCAL 8X that provides all the advanced images
5. Coupon making it $3113 plus 15% off a setting
...all risk is eliminated!

You have me sold. I am going for that one. Not much of a price difference for a bigger spread and better (?) proportions. Im going for a Tiffany style solitaire setting. Should I get 1.7 mm or 2 mm? I have a size 5 finger. I dont want it to look flimsy but also dont want a bulky band. Thank you so much!!
I'm very excited to get this stone. What difference is there between a GCAL8x and those offered by, for example JA?

Price would be the biggest factor. JA tacks on quite a premium for their "True Hearts" lineup, which provides simple advanced images.
For an equivalent 4C with an IGI report in their TH lineup, you're looking at around $4600.
Any of these settings jump out at you, or did you have some in mind already?

just pulled the trigger on it! i went with the Jennel setting which is one of the ones you linked. i went for a 1.7 mm band, it seems to be a tiffany replica. thanks for all your help and will be sure to post pics when i receive it in a couple weeks!
Looking forward to seeing pictures/videos and reading about your thoughts and impressions.
I think the setting is a lovely choice and should make the diamond really pop!
Just a note (and this is based on sheer personal preference): may want to consider contacting them about your bench work order and have them mount the diamond and low as possible so it's not hovering in an ungainly way over your finger, unless you are after that particular look.

The GCAL 8x report is the best cut analysis that any lab can provide, arguably even over AGS. It means that the diamond has scored Excellent in all 8 categories of rigorous cut analysis. James Allen has stones graded mostly by IGI, whose cut grade is very broad. JA does have a True Hearts line which provides an Ideal-Scope image and a hearts image, but the GCAL 8x report goes beyond those. And like DejaWiz said, there's a big premium on the True Hearts stones.
I would put it on hold ASAP if you want this stone! I don't want someone else buying it out from under you!
Ooh, the Mauricia 2mm is beautiful!
Your expertise is very impressive btw @DejaWiz!! Are you a hobbyist, professional, both?? So curious your background. And very grateful for your invaluable help. You saved me a lot of time and hours of agonizing which I've already done over the wrong diamonds lol
Thanks so much! So a GCAL8x stone would be the rough equivalent to a JA True Hearts? thanks again for all your advice and insight. it has been very helpful!

Yours is HPHT Type IIa *and* GCAL 8x which IMO makes it the absolute cream of the crop!I'm so excited that you snagged this stone.
Like DejaWiz, I was going to say that a GCAL 8x stone is better than a JA True Hearts. JA True Hearts stones only show a hearts image and an Ideal-Scope image, and occasionally there will be stones that have light leakage or minor asymmetry despite being in the True Hearts line. GCAL 8x stones go far beyond that and have been analyzed for brilliance, fire, and 6 other cut quality measures which will ensure a top cut with no leakage or symmetry issues.
I also wanted to add that a lot of the GCAL 8x stones I've seen on the forum have been CVD, while most JA stones are HPHT which is the method I personally prefer. But yours is HPHT Type IIa *and* GCAL 8x which IMO makes it the absolute cream of the crop!I'm so excited that you snagged this stone.
