Good afternoon! I am hoping that someone could help me interpret this IS. I have no clue as to how to read it. It seems to have a lot of white. Which I think is bad?

Pass. Plus it scores a 4.6 on the HCA - "good" - only if price is your main concern.

Is it a GIA stone? Their definition of "excellent" cut grade is wide enough to drive a truck through.

Keep looking.

Thanks for replying! Yes, it is a GIA excellent cut. Now I see that I cannot depend on that alone. So, I should always look at the HCA score and an Ideal Scope?

Use the HCA tool to help weed out the diamonds that might not perform as well (anything with HCA scores higher than 2), then you can use the idealscope images to help make your final decision.

A picture is worth a thousand words: Ideal Scope reference chart and can say more than I'm allowed to as a trade member ;))

Au contraire Todd. I believe we in the trade are allowed to answer questions and since the diamond is not identified as to who the vendor is I believe that you could have told him in plain English that the stone reeks.

It is a great example of why we want to always see the diamond and hopefully an IS or ASET image. They make it very clear, very quick when a diamond is not up to snuff.

Wink

BTW that looks like an arrows viewer image not an idealscope image.

Do you need help finding a nice diamond? what are your desired specs (if known)? and how much do you want to pay?

Agreed. That's not an Ideal-Scope image.
