I have just spent another day viewing diamonds, looking for just the right one. I have been to many jewelers, and again the prices are at least 1,000 dollars higher than any online site. I, however, am too nervous to pay thousands of dollars for a diamond I''ve never even seen. Are there any good websites that allow the customer to view the diamonds prior to purchasing??
Please help!!

There are plenty - follow some of the advertisers links.
Also if you do a search by cut quality from the front page you will be looking at the creme de la creme of dimonds.

agreed... I just purchased a ring online and am very satisfied with it. You should always demand a money-back guarantee (usually 10 days-1month). That'll put you at ease when you finally pull the trigger on an online diamond.

mag308,

Most of the on-line vendors will send the diamond that you've selected to an appraiser of your choosing for an appraisal. Of course you have to paid the appraisal fee but it will allow you to get an independent assessment of the quality of the diamond. And if you have it sent to a local appraiser, you will be able to see the diamond personally and ask questions of the appraiser.

If you elect to forego the independent appraiser, there are quite a few vendors that are listed under pricescope that will provide you sufficient information, be it over the net or with subsequent correspondence, to make an educated purchase.

Hope my story helps you and anyone else asking this question.
Over a year ago I took my partner out to find her DREAM engagement ring. Having found the ring the store price was about AUS $30,000 about US $18,000. At the time I was more than happy to pay the price as I believed she would be getting the best. Now time has come to get her the ring, and I decided to do some research into diamonds, making sure I was getting what I was paying for. Having found this site and learning what makes a beautiful diamond, reading many, many topics, visiting all recommended online vendors I have come to the conclusion that it is far better to purchase online. Not just because of the price saving, more importantly the QUALITY of the diamond.
Information on the diamond you can get is incredible. Only a few stores would or could give you the info on the diamonds as the online vendors can. You can make your decision purely on facts with little emotions involved, and no pressure some sales people put on you.

To finish my story,
I have purchased our diamond from superbcert and am expecting its arrival tomorrow. I live on the other side of the world from New York, and after many emails back and forth with Judah and Barry from superbcert I was more than comfortable with purchasing a diamond over the internet.
Not only do I believe I have purchased the best suitable diamond, I have also saved myself over US$8,000.
Do your research, get in contact with the online vendors and I'm sure you'll feel comfortable when it does come time to purchase your partners Dream DIAMOND.

Good luck

Sure there are. Just check around and call each website that you see. Many of us offer a pre-purchase inspection of a diamond. Once you've did a little research online I'm sure that you will feel more comfortable making a purchase over the internet. It's not only safe, but affordable as well.
